So I paid for Elite, but I still have to wait?

A major outcry by PS3 Modern Warfare 3 players as Activision announced that the first maps for Call of Duty Elite members would launch on January 24th to XBox 360. They did not mention any release information for PlayStation 3. (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, PS3, Tag Invalid)

Update We are following tweets by Robert Bowling as we speak: https://twitter.com/fourzer...

"The content comes out first for @Xbox Elite Premium members, then shortly after for subscribers on other platforms."

"Activision has a partnership with Microsoft since 2007. These types of partnerships are not something I handle on the dev side"

"All high-level business partnerships are handled on the corporate side. You'd have to reach out to Activision (no official twitter)."

"You can reach customer support via Twitter by sending a message to @ATVIAssist - they can direct you to phone support also."

No surprise here. Still dont understand why PS3 players are all shocked and surprised by this ever >.>
lorianguy  +   914d ago
I'd even go as far to say that not giving PC users a premium option was actually a good thin for them. They always get an even shorter end of the stick than the PS3 community.

Agreed... what do people not understand about the xbox timed exclusivity for DLC? PS3 elite owners still get maps, and still get them before non-elite PS3 owners. Seems pretty straight forward. If you are that hurt about not getting maps early for MW3 you should invest in a 360.

Now here is a question... if you buy Elite, is it console specific? I ask as I genuinely don't know. I mean if I am an Elite member and have both PS3 and 360 do I get maps for both?
urgentfury  +   914d ago
It is console specific, so you have to purchase Elite for each console.
lorianguy  +   914d ago
Console specific. And you can't just "invest in a 360". People use certain consoles for a reason - be it friends, exclusives, free online, etc.

I'm a PS3 gamer, but I have no horse in this race. I havn't been willing to play CoD since CoD4. Since then they've all been $60 expansions to CoD4 that have gotten continually more glitchy and exploit filled as far as I'm concerned and not worth a dime I make. So I'm just looking at this from a "what's right" perspective.

I understand the early DLC deal ACTIVISION made with MS, and that's fine for all the regular players on each of those services. But the ELITE plan is specifically a subscription service between the player regardl;ess of platform and ACTIVISION, and therefore it's only right that all ELITE members, whether they be on PSN or Live, should get the maps at the same time before EITHER of the services get the maps to distribute.

I think even legally all ELITE members should have it at the same time because of the basic "contract" directly between consumer and activision would superceed/over-rule the contract between activision and another 3rd party or middle-man, which in this case is Microsoft. I really think Elite members on PS3 have a bit of a case here for Activision breaking the "contract" (which is the subscription)'s promised service. At the very least they should all be refunded unless they get the maps on the same day. Just the Elite members. All non-elite mebers on PSN are irrelavent here.

Bubbles.

This is what I and others have been trying to say, but I don't think I've seen anyone say it as well as you did.

This really does suck. I bought MW3 on ps3 cus that's where most of my friends are, I paid the same for the game + elite as I would have done had I bought it for 360 and yet I don't get the same service??

The 360 getting the dlc a month before ps3 in past CODS was bad enough but understandable, however when you throw in a 3rd party sub into the mix I find it unacceptable.

The only positive is that providing elite dlc is every month when 360 gets content pack 2 ps3 will be getting content pack 1 and so on. My point being at least after Feb ps3 will still get a regular stream of content via elite (or should do)

What surprises me is why would anyone think differently?

I mean, you paid the same for the game and map packs in the past, yet got them later on PS3. What do you think changed with CoD: Elite?

It's like, the problem is staring you in the face, you buy it, then you proceed to complain about it!

Sounds like a lot of those under the water home owners in the US.....

Well in the past you had 2 platforms. the 360 required a subscription to play online which presumably helped fund this exclusive map deal with Activision for the last few COD games.

By introducing this Elite subscription I believe all elite members should get the dlc at the same time, then the other deal takes effect i.e. standard 360 owners followed by standard ps3 owners.

Edit: I understand why the deal is the way it is but I really don't agree with it when a 3rd party subscription is involved.

***Well in the past you had 2 platforms. the 360 required a subscription to play online which presumably helped fund this exclusive map deal with Activision for the last few COD games.***

... and by your logic nothing has changed? Xbox 360 owners then presumably pay more than PS3 owners as they both pay the subscription. Therefore, it seems reasonable Xbox 360 owners should get it before everyone else.

***What surprises me is why would anyone think differently? ***

Where in his post did he say he thought differently? He only shared his opinion on the fact that they get it later, not that he did not expect it.

Last time I checked, everyone is allowed to share their opinion.

@cgoodno

***The 360 getting the dlc a month before ps3 in past CODS was bad enough but understandable, however when you throw in a 3rd party sub into the mix I find it unacceptable.***

He now expects it to be different, simply because there is a subscription involved.

nuff said.

***Last time I checked, everyone is allowed to share their opinion.***

Did I say that NOT "everyone is allowed to share their opinion"?

... but since you are checking, yes you are allowed no matter how wrong it is.
cgoodno  +   913d ago
***He now expects it to be different, simply because there is a subscription involved. ***

He never said that. He said he found it unacceptable. He did not say he expected anything.

***Did I say that NOT "everyone is allowed to share their opinion"? ***

Did I say you did?
gamingdroid  +   913d ago
***He never said that. He said he found it unacceptable. He did not say he expected anything.***

So he found it unacceptable, BUT DID NOT EXPECT ANYTHING ELSE? The fact you find something unacceptable MEANS you expected something else!

***Did I say you did?***

You certainly implied it with your comment directed at me, unless you were commenting to someone else?
cgoodno  +   913d ago
***So he found it unacceptable, BUT DID NOT EXPECT ANYTHING ELSE? The fact you find something unacceptable MEANS you expected something else! ***

Wrong wrong wrong. You said, and I quote: "He now expects it to be different, simply because there is a subscription involved."

No. He did not say squat about expecting anything different just because a subscription is involved. He said nothing about what he expected, he only expressed that the status of it is unacceptable to him as a whole.

I can go into a restaurant and expect poor service, that doesn't mean that I can't find the service unacceptable even though I still expected it to be unacceptable. Yes, this happens every time my Mother wants to go to a specific restaurant for her birthday. I know what I'm going to get, I still find it unacceptable.

***You certainly implied it with your comment directed at me***

No, I didn't. If I say the sky is blue, does that mean that I believe that you think the sky is another color?

***The common outcry is why did we pay full price for Elite but we are not getting the map paks at the same time as XBox…***

Because Xbox 360 owners, was promised to get the maps before the PS3 owners. CoD: Elite never promised you would get the maps on PS3 at the same time as Xbox 360 owners.

That said, didn't Activision make some adjustments?
urgentfury  +   914d ago
Not any adjustments that we have been able to find...

Hopefully the wait isnt too long. Bowling confirmed PS3 owners would get it far before non paying elite members.

Xbox 360 Elite owners on the other hand you guys are hardcore, $120 a year for xbl and elite? No thanx.

Your Elite premium membership says you get things on PS3 before regular members on PS3. Thats the system you picked so stick with it and don't worry about what people on the other systems get.

360 gets dlc a month first period. Cod elite for each system gets free dlc and gets it earlier than you normally would. Ps3 elite peeps still get free dlc and get it before everyone else on ps3 so whats the problem? If a few weeks is that big of a deal play on 360.
ninjagoat  +   913d ago
Thing is though this aint just about DLC anymore. When they brought in elite they brought in a subscription based service where as at the end of the invested time they will remove the property from you.

If you do not renew. In of the the Elite service imo should be the same come both systems. There should be no differences in times dates etc. always makes me wonder how fair console gaming is to the gamer that pays there money at the end of the week.

How much a ride are we taken for. Seems the people that make the games don't give a sh*t either way. For me they make a difference on many a things and it don't just end at mw3. (I know there was an exculsive deal yadda yadda but that was dirrected at the DLC). Skyrim is a good exsample for me worked fine on xbox, all the sudden 1.4 coming it will work fine on PS3.

Funny they didn't do that day one ain't it.

Seems to have wavers sales one way rather than the other when the chips are down on exculsive games. Theres no reason in the world if they can fix the game now they could not have done it then.

Sometimes im thankful i own all consoles and a good gaming rig. I can look at things from a distance at times and pick and choose where i play my games carefully most of the time. Somtimes i get sucked into the odd idiotic move and activision has sukered me on more than one ocassions.

maybe one day there will be a level playing field out there for gamers. i want to know when i spend my money on a multiplatform game I get what im paying for.

I think end of day Sony should pass a quality test on all third party games if they don't match up to there counter parts they should just rule them out.

If its a dev problem its plain lazyness. I so has everyone else here seen what PS3 can do. Hell theres games there that rival some the finest games i have on my PC now.

Before you go off ona hissy fit im not going into resoltions and dx11 etc. They have devolpers working directly for there platform naughty Dog being the main exsample atm.

They harness the Ps3 and make it do things that makes even my jaw thats been chewing the grass for the last few months on my PC on skyrim and BF3 hit the floor.

Yet even though PS3 can handle BF3 nicely (for a console) they get a lesser version of MW3. Something has to tell you in your head your getting screwed over.

Ive said it a few years on the trot now and again and again been sucked in this time i got the game on multiable platforms lol :) Id have uslay got it for my pc and thats it.

But thats £90 a console version with elite £180. Tell me where the PS3 owner should be treated different in off this deal. Imo that just sucks.

As a PS3 owner, all I can say is tuff crap, keep buying Call O Doddie games and keep getting screwed by Activision. Next time buy a Costco sized tub of Vaseline too. Morons
ninjagoat  +   913d ago
Should not be a case of tuff crap m8. As a gamer and a paying costumer people should be fairly treated when it comes to trade.

We should not be the ones held acountable for putting are faith into the industry.

Surely we are doing the right thing going and buying these games legit yet they seem to be punishing the gamer?.
