GameZebo: Azarashi Review

GameZebo: If I were to sit down and make a list of my all time favourite video games, Cave Story would rank pretty high on that list. An indie gem in the Metroidvania fashion, there really isn’t a single thing about that game that I don’t love. So when I heard that Studio Pixel, the one man team behind that cult classic, had just released a new iPhone game, I rushed to the App Store to grab a copy. Now that I’ve played it, I’ll simply say this – don’t expect to like Azarashi simply because you liked Cave Story.

AppAdvice: Azarashi Review

AppAdvice: Azarashi ($0.99) by Studio Pixel is a game of reflexes. How quickly can you react?

There isn’t a lot to this game, but I found it charming and actually pretty addictive. It’s also from Studio Pixel. I mean, really? Do you need more reason than that? In case you are unfamiliar with who these guys are, just know that they developed the awesome platform-adventure game, Cave Story.

Pocket Gamer: Azarashi Review

Pocket Gamer: Azarashi creator Daisuke Amaya is best-known for PC freeware classic Cave Story, and it’s a shame his much-loved platform shooter isn’t on the App Store.

Though some would undoubtedly question its suitability for touch controls, one need only look at Halfbot’s exemplary work on Vlambeer’s Super Crate Box to realise how well Cave Story could potentially work on iOS devices.
