Here is a photo of the Wii U at one of the Television booths at CES 2012. Looks like it will be used for some kind of Television demo.
That tablet controller is interesting as hell. But I wonder how it feels in your hands? Perhaps it could be a little smaller? or better shaped?
I heard it's pretty nice to hold. It's like holding two wii controllers or something....
Well that sounds terrible.
I assume it feels like a thicker iPad made of plastic but with bumps in the back for triggers.
I got a chance to play with it at E3 2011 and it's really comfy, the only thing I would change is real analog thumb sticks that click , not those flat disk sticks.........
The controller looks uncomfortable to hold. Too skinny like DS and the face buttons.dpad are small like DS too. It's like Nintendo got lazy and just put DS controls on it.
I can't wait
I agree i was a massive fan of the cube but i think nintendo lost spme of there magic with the ds and wii but im loving the 3ds and i think nintendo are going the right way with the wiiu. Not to long to wait until the consoe is out.
I personally hope it comes in black on release
Slightly offtopic: Does anyone know/have a link for the CES 2012 stream (it's tomorrow right?) Ontopic: So, the other unit in the picture (to the right), is that part of the WiiU, or is that just a regular Wii?
I think that the Will U system or a Xbox 360
lol, it's the pre production Wii U.
This thing looks like the apple pipping and does not look attractive They need to call SONY and ask how to make a proper piece of looking hardware
That is UGLY and would not go with anything in my setup
a red ferrari will not go with my blue garage door, i dont want it now. man thats a pathetic excuse lol
once you said Blue Garage door I realized you have to be mental to have a Blue Garage door You are dismissed sir
Why do they need to call SONY? There are plenty of other companies that design very eye pleasing products. Oh right, FANBOY. Sure, Sony designs some great products. However, they are not the "be all, end all"
You don't have to be a fanboy to see that Sony system look pretty good, and are routinely among the best-looking on the market. Why didn't you NAME any of these other companies with eye-pleasing products? Oh, right: because you couldn't think of any; you just saw an opportunity to try and call someone a fanboy. Nobody said they were the end all, be all. He only said Sony's good at making good-looking hardware. And you don't even deny it, so why do you have a complaint at all???
It's pre production nothing about it is final. If it was they would have shown it off at E3, nothing about the Wii U aesthetic look is set in stone.
Just because it looks ugly does not mean it won't play well. Remember how grey and bulky the N64 was? Remember its awkward controller design? But that didn't make it a bad console; it had some great features and some great games.
The thing besides the tablet controller is the system itself. You didnt honestly think that they crammed a powerpc quad core and a R770 GPU into the controller did you?
I want to see what is capable to do, what are the new ways for the Devs and games.
If they can make use of that hardware and bring a more immersive Virtual Reality than the actual games of this gen, it is most likely it will be in my whishlist.
I think they're making a mistake by using a resistive touch screen instead of capacitive. And only one camera? They should throw a rear facing camera on there. Other than that, I think its a pretty cool controller. Can't wait to see what devs do with it.
All that stuff costs more money though. They are using a single touch screen too for cost reasons. I don't want to pay $100+ for each controller just so my friends can play...
The console itself isn't exciting to me cause it looks too identical to the Wii that has already been out for years... and the controler just isn't doing anything for me at all! For me, NES was my 2nd console after I had Intelevision. Im now in that boat where the nostalgia of being with Nintendo has worn off... especially this current gen!
Is aesthetic quality that important to you? I agree it doesn't match all the other cases in my setup... but the gameplay possibilities are worthy of some kind of excitement.
That's like saying a 3DS is no good because it has DS in the name and two screens. Have you held the controller in your hands? Have you played a WiiU game? Shouldn't that moment where you have the controller in your hands and having a gaming experience be the real deciding factor?
the picture on the tv behind the Wii U is that the tokyo city demo that was shown behind closed doors last E3?
NINTENDO what are u thinking?
god i cant wait for this to come out day freaking one, going to play one of the games and not stop till i beat it :P
Diablo 3 for the first time on a home console. With controls that actually work!!
Looks good, despite what people are mostly saying at N4G, it's a definite buy if it's priced under $400.
That console is too small to contain any real significant power. PS3 power, not much more.
It it were a true next gen console in terms of power, it would be at least as big as the original 360/PS3/XBOX
The iPhone is a fraction of the size of that thing and has a GB of RAM. The PS3 had 512 MB of RAM.
tech has got smaller and more powerfull look at the ipad, and mobile phones how much they have shrunk in 6 years, i personally thought when the ps3 and 360 came out they were way to big. size of vcr's nearly
wiiU dosent have to house an HDD either which takes up a good bit of room and you also have to leave enough room around for it to breath aswell , we all know how hot they get, so this will keep size way down for the wiiU
