Konami: ‘No Current Plans’ for Console Silent Hill: The Arcade

NAGF: "I contacted Konami yesterday to see if there was a planned console release for Silent Hill: The Arcade. “It’s not on any current plans,” was the official response from their European PR handlers, Voltage – I suddenly had the urge to send them an immediate enquiry because I had just read House Of The Dead 3 and 4 were both moaning and groaning their way to PSN on February 7.

"Sega’s lightgun masterpieces are getting a spanking new HD facelift, and are sure to be hits for people who have bought PlayStation Move. Sega is throwing its full weight behind both titles, as Sega Of America senior VP of digital business, Haruki Satomi said: “The House Of The Dead has always been one of Sega’s most popular series, and over the years we have worked hard to bring that full arcade experience to console owners. The abilities of the PS3, as well as PlayStation Move, have let us get closer than ever before.”" (Arcade, Culture, Konami, PS3, Silent Hill)

The first time I heard about this is when I saw one in a bowling alley, my jaw dropped to the floor

PR typically has no clue as to what is in the works. This is the industry standard response. When/if it is greenlighted, its all they'll talk about. As if they are going to make the official announcement to some random hoo-haa game news site OVER THE PHONE.

Gaming journalism gets better every day.

Sorry. Instead of liaising with the right people in the industry, I'll post a massive picture of CGI tits next time and do a 'Top 5 Videogame Breasts'.

Nope. That might work with the teens on this site, however this is a nonsensical rebuttal. Speaking as someone who has worked in the electronic entertainment industry for over a decade now, the idea that you as a "news entity" contacted public relations (a contracted entity on top of it), as opposed to appropriate press channels for "exclusive" details is BS. #1: Reputable press/new agencies large or small typically have a press go-to contact and/or #2: A privileged press-access-only site for all legally okayed news and announcements for in-progress and upcoming projects.

It's the way you presented yourself and your article. You claim cred on your site signature. By experience, you should know better.

Well, if you looked closely you'll see it's listed in the 'article' section of my site and here, nowhere am I claiming to have exclusive news from Konami or anything like that. If you've bothered to read the full article you'll see it's very personal, I claim to be 'a Silent Hill nut' and offer a positive opinion on Silent Hill: The Arcade, comparing it against negative opinions from other sites. That's why it's listed under 'Featured Articles' on-site, because it's not a 'news' article, which you should know the difference about.

My article is friendly and positive, I'm not looking for a fight. You've felt the need to be personal and insult my 'journalistic ability' - through emails you haven't read between myself and a third party - in all capitals in a comment section. My rebuttal was equally childish and I apologise. Congratulations on your decade of industry experience and I wish you well.
