Canada.com reviews Uncharted Drake's Fortune.
It's quite obvious Microsoft paid off Canada
Oh wow how ignorant not just because your blatant fanboy remark but the fact that Canada would stoop so low(I am Canadian btw)
you know what thats the 2nd time this week I've been accused of being anti canadian
I am a canadian...and i am jokingggggggggg
I'll chnage my DP ... I thought it was obvious that it was a joke:S
My mistake well in your original post you should have put like "sarcasm" or somethng like that, sorry for the attack
it's quite obvious that M$ pays toughNAME to troll all Uncharted post..!!!
no worries TwissT
a fellow Canadian would be interested in this
I can't believe I actually got an agree on my first comment
silly conpiracy-filled Meus
Is he paid for his opinion? Too much boom? What a dork. My recommendation to him is either buy Tomb Raider or make his own tomb raiding game. Naughty Dog never said this game is Tomb Raider. It's Uncharted. A better game.
Two things that annoys me about these kinds of reviews is 1) how often it compares Uncharted to Tomb Raider and 2) the length of the review.
I don't know whether the reason the reviewer didn't point out Gears of War and Prince of Persia, using instead Tomb Raider and Myst, is an indication of him as a gamer, but its growing tiresome to hear him basically saying its just pieces of another game. If you play enough FPS, RTS, and especially RPG, you really must stop looking at the similarities and instead look towards what makes a game unique to appreciate it. Can't people just take a piece of work by itself anymore? If you read through any novel and simply compare it to all the great classics you've ever read, you'll never come to truly appreciate it.
but the thing is the more you play the game the more you see that Uncharted has nothing in common with Tomb Raider gameplay wise...similar cover system to gears..ala Killswitch..
not to mention it seems Naughty Dog was also a big fan of Resident Evil 4
The review was actually too long as far as I'm concerned. The title ruined the whole review. And then you're forced to read all his drivel since you can't see an easy way to see what he thinks. Just a bunch of nothing really.
I think this game has more in common with gears than Womb Raider. I am having a blast with it. One of the best all round games ever. The cinematics are beautiful the ledge climbing is cool with all the different animations the whole package just feels right. I love the shotgun so satisfying the way the baddies fly back like they got hit with a wrecking ball.
i disagree with canada. More boom is always cool. and uncharted is awesome.
one bad review vs many AAA reviews. Plus this one was in canada! (yes i went there)
A C T I V A T E D ! !
Great game, but I found myself agreeing more with this review than disagreeing.
xbot 720... M$ promises no more RROD...
Don't let this fool trick you... He always lies when he gets stuck and tries to say he owns a PS3. Please realize he is a liar. He is a big, green, sticky, RROD, XBOT. XBOT. Uncharted is number one in boom lighting and GRAPHICS. That's what Gametrailers, Ign, and Ripten say.
careful Razer - if you dont come out with absolute adoration and awe for uncharted, the sony fankids will start attacking you with their bizzare nonsensical drivel and personal attacks...
damn, too late....
I believe razer is a psycho.
Yawn... Uncharted kicks ass. Cut it how you want. It's a slice of Ass Kick in your face, either way. This site is obviously sent out to stop the overwhelming praise the game has garnered. Over 25 9+ reviews and counting. When's it stop?
your Dad is gonna kick your ass when he finds out how late you stay up posting kaka and on top of that you got peanut butter on his keyboard again jackson!!! ooooooooooh your gonna get it!!!!
Well....everybody is entitled to their opinion, I guess....
This is a typical "Blair Witch" effect here. After Blair Witch came out every movie that had a hint of using a handheld camera whether it was a professional film or just a home movie capturing a baby's first moments was immediately accused of being a blatant "Blair Witch rip-off" Here you have a game that used a Jungle setting and some people seem to think that the makers of Tomb Raider copyrighted the sole rights to making the only games that have jungle settings. Whatever game is released after it and has a jungle setting will shall be and forever be a Tomb Raider rip off.
The funny thing. Crash Bandicoot was set in a jungle... It predated Tomb Raider even. now what? Idiots... I mean, Sly Stallone was doing action movies well before Vin Desil knew he needed to shave the pubic hair off the top of his head.
Comparrisons are absurd at best. Uncharted not only stands on its own... It kicked Lara right in the [email protected]
The even worse aspect here... Uncharted has 4 levels set in the jungle. that's it. Out of 22... The jungle, I'd love to stress this for those that do not know, plays a very minor role in this game. So minor you actually wish you were back in it at times.
Trust me... Uncharted is everything Tomb Raider wishes it could be. FUN and playable and both at the same time.
I don't disagree that Uncharted is better than Tomb Raider and Yes Crash did predate Tomb Raider but not by much and at that time the Blair Witch effect was not in full steam anywhere else.
...but I seriously can't take any game reviews from a site called Canada.com. It actually sounds more like a travel site or something.
While the text may seem damning, it's legitimate criticism and it's hardly bashing the game. If you check the score he gives it's a 3.5, out of 4. I'd say the reviewer really liked the game, but wishes it had more challenging puzzles. Sounds fair to me.
I didn't even see the 3.5 before you mentioned it. Their system isn't very good. The rating blends into the text. But where do you get the out of 4 part? I don't see anything on their site that says they give up to 4. What kind of rating system is that though if they do? Not the best way to rate games.
On their site they also have a Mass Effect review, they gave that a 4. While it might be out of 5 stars, I doubt they think Mass Effect is anything less than a stellar game based on their final paragraph:
"Nitpicking? Well, you gotta pick something, and with Mass Effect there's only nits to pick; if a solid-but-unremarkable shooter (call it three stars, in itself) is the delivery vector for a role-playing experience this deep, this engrossing, then I'll put up with it - I've been satisfied with far, far worse combat systems in my long years of RPG gaming. Bottom line, Mass Effect is a triumph of cinematic game-making - and it's just the beginning of a planned epic. Twenty years wasn't too long to wait."
So I assumed (perhaps incorrectly, but I haven't found much evidence to the contrary) that their scale goes from 1-4. Hence, 3.5 outta 4.
What a lame rating system. 1 point could be worth up to 25% the grade. Besides, their worth goes as low as it can get. I had never heard of Canada before ;)
Hey you know that game Mass Effect?
The game that is better than any game on the PS3?
Made in Canada.
Also, just in case my opinion doesn't do it for you
statistically, Mass Effect is better than anything on the PS3
ignorant, American, Sony fanb!tch
Why would you call him a ignorant, American, Sony fanb!tch when he has a gamer tag? Anyway it does not make you any less of a fanboy if you troll.
Canada rules, and I'm not even from there, but I been there once. Great bud, great times. YOU GO CANUCKS
lol this review was whack.
I've had it with these dumb arsed reviewers. This whiney b*tch does the immediate comparison to Tombraider like everyone else and then complains the gameplay isnt enough like Tombraider. For fuksake thats pathetic.
I for one found the puzzles/combat balance spot on. It is primarily a shooter. No one ever said it was all about puzzles. I dont want to spend an hour trying to open a door. IF YOU WANT A GAME LIKE TOMBRAIDER, GO PLAY TOMBRAIDER, a game which incidently I've never enjoyed the shooting it.
Unchanted is beautiful, exciting, intreaging and just makes to want to keep playing cos its fun. I even loved the Jeep bit and I usually dont have much time for those on rails shooting sections. I guess I just loved the way the jeeps and ATV's exploded.
Anyway UC has it all spot on. The AI and best cover system available make it one of the best 3rd person shooters you can get.
Whinny? How was his review whinny? Because he didn't agree that the game is "OMG super fantastic"? He gave his opinion in a pretty balanced way that had you actually read it, rendered it in a good light. The only whinny person I can see her is you...
Point is, heaven forbid not everyone on this green Earth agree with you dam opinion.
he gave 4 stars to mass effect? sure, more like 2.5 stars as far as i'm concerned.
whoever disagreed with me:
I own the damn game and it failed to impress me, sure i liked it more than halo 3 but that's not saying much.
Just like any reviewer i'm entitled to my own rating system.
Yes you are, but the way you worded it is probably why you got your disagree, though it wasn't from me.
Now had you said something like "I didn't like ME because..." then perhaps your opinion would have been better received. But just coming out and saying what you said promote hostility, not open dialog. Now sometimes that kind of comment is warranted, as was the chase of the poster above you, but not in your case.
In any event, sorry you didn't like the game. Personally I thought it was great, but I love a good sci-fi space story. Hence why I can't wait for Dead Space when it comes out sometime next year.
well it's not a bad game, but the story didn't grab me to the point where it made me overlook all of it's flaws. i played it for 7 hours and really haven't been in the mood to want to play the game again.
maybe i just have too many games to play, but i popped FF XII in and i just can't stop playing it. same with KOTOR I/II i couldn't put 'em down. I couldn't put uncharted down, but that's an action game so it's different.
I understand, its not everyones cup of tea. But you liked FF12? I play through the whole game but I hated the story. I just found the plot to be too well easy. The twist I predicted ahead of time and the attempt at political intrigue was horrible. Also I really liked the board system, at first, but I supposed 3/4 through the game my main 3 characters were all pretty much carbon copies of each other. Besides a few base stats I could just as easily switch their gear thus having my tank become my healer, my healer my black mage, and so on.
But that movie at the end where the huge air battle takes place. Pure Eye Candy and as much as I hate to say this, as it really only serves to lower my image, the bunny women were easy on the eyes. Well that was until Fann( think that was her name) when crazy because of the stone. Yea don't need more crazy women in my life!
uncharted is the best game easyily released this year. even better than cod4.
I might agree, but you really can't compare the two. Since each belongs to a different genera, and everyone has their favorite(FPS,RPG,Act/Adv,GH3 type) I wouldn't go as far as to say it's better than something from another genera. But as far as Action/Adventure goes...hell yea!
I'm "only" 20 hrs into FF XII and lost about an hour because i died and there was no save point :(
i'm sure i'll be in the mood to play ME one of these days, maybe i'll be able to get into it then.
Who cares. This game kicks ASS! Anyone that has a PS3 needs to grab a copy of this title.
First of all, I'm not from the USA. Second, did you notice the wink wink after the word "Canada"? It means JOKING, ignorant. Third, you made me lol with this phrase: "statistically, Mass Effect is better than anything on the PS3". Statistically, 50 reviews (at most) isn't a representative sample; if you include everyone that's not part of the press, there's fanboy bias on the polls (install base probably has something to do with the bias too). Furthermore, Sony hyped PS3 like no other, so it's natural that everyone would expect more from it. So no, "quality" like that just can't be measured like that. Furthermore, "statistically", you can't trust reviews by the fact that Gamespot's reviews, and pretty much
any other videogame press outlet's reviews are tainted.
And fourth, Mass Effect is overhyped. Read all of the uncharted reviews and the ME reviews. Notice how Uncharted has, in not a single review, "significant flaws", unlike mass effect, which either has slowdown/Framerate dips, annoyingly slow gameplay (besides the framerate), and overall isn't what you'd expect from the creators of KOTOR. Uncharted's single flaw is that it's too short; you could say that it doesn't have online play, but since we're talking about Mass Effect, it doesn't matter much; and in the end, they both have a similar amount of content, the difference is that Uncharted is pretty fast paced compared to Mass Effect. And you wonder why Mass Effect actually fit on DVD9? It's no mystery; the pace of the game makes you think the amount of content is more than any other game before, but it's just your average length game in slow motion.
So, statistically or not, you can't really say Mass Effect is a better game than Uncharted, for all the reasons stated. And as you can see, I have a gamertag. Yes, very few points, I know, but that's because I've already gotten 3 RRODs and I'm sick of it, frankly.
sheesh - can everyone stop jerking off over this game?!!! Its good, yes, no doubt, but there have been plenty of better games both this year, and in the past. Personally, give me Ratchet & Clank any day.
I know i'm opening myself up to fanboy rants here, but heres what i dont like about uncharted:
- The platforming elements are far too forgiving - its very hard to mess up a jump - there should at least feel like there is something of a challenge to traversing some of the more difficult platform sections - a bit of a sense of achievement goes a long way to improving enjoyment
- The jetski sections are just plain annoying. So damn stop-start. Go forward a bit, stop, shoot barrels, shoot people, move on. Would be far more fun if you could move and shoot at the same time.
- The fanboys have built the game up so much its like its the second coming of christ - hence when i finally got to play it I couldnt help but feeling dissappointed.
- The AI is not as good as everyone makes out. Sticking behind cover and poking their heads out is something thats been done before. Many times. In most cases you can aim where you think their heads will pop out and score easy headshots cos they do exactly what your expecting.
- Does the enemy have a clone lab somewhere on those islands? Plus, if its such a chore for nate to get from A-to-B, how comes its so damn easy for hordes of gun-toting mercenaries?
- Graphics are brilliant - the water effects especially.
- Superb production values, although to be fair i could take or leave the obvious attempt at a romance sub-plot.
- It is very good fun - you dont notice time passing as you play, which is always a good sign
- Theres just about enough challenge there
- Achievement-esque system is neat - although i cant see myself using many of the unlockables i definately appreciate what they've done with it.
Thats my 2 cents (as the americans sometimes say). This isnt a trolling post or anything like that - just giving my honest opinion.
The AI almost never sticks their head out the same way. They run and freaking SLIDE for cover... The first time I saw that I was like holysh*t, I almost hit him with a head shot but he slid behind cover, just in time. SWEET
Canada please? 3/1/5 stars is a joke. What is wrong with you people? Stay in hockey you guys suck reviewing games why dont you rebuild the toronto maple leafs
i live in t.o btw
maple leafs ftw!
Hey Root, that was uncalled for. The Leafs ROCK!..... When they win.
And everybody just ignore Toughname, his is just a stupid Canadian Xbot fanboy!
P.S. I'm a stupid Canadian PS3 fanboy.
Canada doesnt like boom?!? What a shocker! In the US boom is in ! lol
IT is an amazing accomplishment ..........If One wishes a different game , then
Play something else.
and haven't been able to put it down. It's like playing a movie, the plot is thick and the game is ridiculously fun. Its my GOTY thus far. I have yet to play Ratchet so we will see.
Hey I am Canadian but I do disagree with this review they should rate out of ten instead of five
it's still not a bad score, 3.5/4 = 87.5/100
Dude, its true they need to rebuild the leafs. Lets face it they wont make the playoffs but here's to hoping nothing beats Hockey night in canada on a saturday night with your girl and buddies
They won by the way big time! even toskala got an assist.
Leafs and Drake ftw
