Mass Effect - GameCritics.com Review (10/10)

Brad Gallaway - December 5, 2007:

"An incredible effort from any perspective, Mass Effect sets the new standard for story-driven games, and has unquestionably surpassed all others to become the preeminent science fiction franchise today."

I have not finsished my review yet, becuase I am still playing the game. So far I am impressed with it. This is a good review, but my review will be the one that counts (to me).

Great game.
And already a winner for RPG of the year from Spike Game Awards. I suspect it will be one of many for this game.

Congrats to BioWare. If they could only fix some of the technical issues with a patch this game would be perfect.

ohhh for sure one of the best games i ever played......and for the ppl that do play Mass Effect if you havent turned off the film grain effect in the graphic options then you havent see the game at its best.

Ugh that film grain is horrible, I turned it off as soon as I had control over my character. I then periodically turned it back on for a min or so at a time a few hours into the game and decided that it sucked and left it off. My only graphical gripe with ME was with the texture loads, which at first were minor and then as I went on it turned into like 5-6 seconds before something gets full detail. Oh and I did see carbon copies of a lot of characters throughout the game, I'm hoping they fix that in the 2nd.

I'm playing through it again to do as many of the side missions as I can. There sure are a lot. I'm about 5 hours in and still haven't left the Citadel. It's awesome going back and doing some things that you didn't before, as it gives you more information on the entire backstory of the game (different disputes between species, etc.).

By far one of the best games I've ever played.
