Legendary Developers Pick Their Favorite Games of 2011

This time of year, every gaming site is offering up the top games of 2011. While IGN is also taking this approach, we also decided to do something a little different. Who better to call out some of the best games of the year than the people who are actually making the games. (3DS, iPad, iPhone, Nintendo DS, PC, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360)

Most of the developers aren't Legendary.

The only devs in the category "legendary" could be

1. Entire Nintendo EAD/SPD and Yamauchi
2. Capcom's devs from the 80s and early 90s like Ono and Keiji Inafue
3. Square & Enix devs from the 80s and early 90s like Sakaguchi
4. Konami's devs from the 80s
5. Master Higgens (Google it :P)

I don't think anyone else has done enough work to be called a "legend"...

What about Rockstar ? They have created the fantastic GTA series ( GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas ), Bully, Manhunt, RDR etc.

They are definitely a legendary developer if there ever was one.

No Miyamoto or Hideo??This list is a fail and half these clowns aren't even legendary developers.
DonaldBeck  +   1343d ago
uncharted 3 and skyrim is everywhere.

That's true. You can expect however, that it isnt in Peter's or Cliff's best interest to give U3 notice (and you can't blame them).

I read in an earlier article that one of the bioware founders was hooked on Dark Souls.
With that said, its always interesting to hear the thoughts and opinions from developers on games that they did not create.

Forgive the typos- I sent this from my phone.

Epic isn't one of Microsoft first party developers like Lionhead are.

"I read in an earlier article that one of the bioware founders was hooked on Dark Souls."

I hope they get the inspiration of Dark Souls Battle system on their next game.

Would you please post the link to that article?

Link attached to the comment from Bioware
See last prg.
In short Bioware is looking at Skyrim and Darksouls. In the last prg, Zeschuk (Bioware fonder) states that he is dumping a lot of hours into Dark Souls

Better than the VGA's. Although, watching Felicia Day bobbing her head up and down was the only interesting part.

Most of those devs are one-hit wonders except for David Jaffe and where is Hideo Kojima?
Voxelman  +   1342d ago
You clearly don't know who Will Wright (SimCity, The Sims etc his franchises have sold 200 million units combined), Peter Molyneux (Populous, Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, Fable), Tim Willits (Doom 3, Quake, RAGE) and Cliff Bleszinski (Jazz Jack Rabbit, Unreal, Gears of War) are because they are all as or more legendary than Jaffe (God of War, Twisted Metal).
Drake117  +   1342d ago
bahahaha David Jaffe is the epitome of a one hit wonder dude, guy completely fell off the map after the first god of war now he just sits in front of his little webcam and talks sh*t. And i also agree with voxelman you clearly have no idea who these other devs r if u think they r one hit wonders.

It seems Skyrim has just won everyone over. It's WAY in the lead for most GOTY awards so far this year.

Title - # of GOTY Awards

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - 75

Portal 2 - 18

Batman: Arkham City - 15

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - 9

alot of you seem to have not read the entire name of the article. its "Legendary Developers Pick Their Favorite Games of 2011" NOT "author of article picks legendary devs".

why no kojima? mebe he never returns the authors emails. is the author supposed to guess at his picks and make up a response? i hear miyamoto doesnt get out of bed for less than a million yen, you expect him to give a shit about answering some websites questions? that is why they are not on this list.
