20 launch titles sold a combined total of 300,000 copies
Good sales for just two days of being out. Wonder what the digital sales for the games are as well.
Yeah, they need to start tracking that too, sort of like how they show you rating count, but instead showing us how many exact copies are purchased. I especially foresee digital sales becoming bigger than retail copies for 2 reasons: -They are cheaper -Conveniency for portables
Indeed, they need to release online sales for hardware and software as well. I don't think it's that hard to track.
It has notthing to do with the vita or 3DS being bad handhelds gaming is just dying
Those are lackluster sales, hopefully digital sales make up the bulk of total software sales because on retail alone that works out to less than one game per system. That said, impressive numbers for Uncharted.
c'mon, the Vita cost a lot and most if not all of them probably went out to get the memory card as well which cost some more! if you look properly, it's almost 1:1 ratio with the amount of Vita sold and this is not yet considering the digital sales. considering all things, this is actually good for a launch
2 Days...2 DAYS TROLL...ONLY JAPAN!
The prices for games are a little high though...at least for me. Hopefully the digital copies of games will be cheaper.
325k for the Vita and 300k of games. That tells me that alot of people have bought off PSN.
It would explain why the 16 and 32gb memory cards are selling so well over there.
Come onpeople... don't downplay this. First day sales alone should have been over 500k. Look at the past launches for handhelds as proof. Work needs to be done. Hopefully they lower the price before it hits us, but either way it will sell better than in Japan.
Past handhelds didn't have downloadable games available at launch (PSP/DS DL games didn't come right away, and not flagship titles like Uncharted), plus have all of their high-end memory cards sold out right away. Don't downplay THAT.
You do realize that PSV was launched at a time where money is split for buying stuff for the holidays right? 3DS was sold on a month where people's money isn't going anywhere.
Sales are not that impressive....
It's impressive enough to be sold on a month where people's money going everywhere.
With Vita selling around 325,000 units in the same timeframe, that's a retail software attach rate of 0.92 games per system. That compares unfavourably to the 0.95 first week attach rate of 3DS. Wasnt this supposed to be like a "superior" launch lineup?
Well the software lineup is pretty good, if not, the best I've seen on a handheld. There are many other factors, I suppose. I maybe one of the few left, where I think each new console/handheld should come with a 1st-party game. I guess they call it "Special Bundles Now"...
Digital sales need to be taking into account. I don't know about others but i can only afford 2 games at launch. Getting a case, memory card and screen protector is at a higher priority for launch than games. I can always get more games after but I need to protect the Vita straight away
