Right from the very start Rise of Nightmares makes a good impression. An impressive menu set-up showcases just how much the sensitivity of the software has progressed since the launch of Kinect, with Rise of Nightmares offering perhaps the best menu system of any videogame utilising the device so far. It may be overly long when first beginning the game, but it’s an undeniably well structured series of options. Not so well presented is the in-game information. For some strange reason the development team have chosen to present all information (bar subtitles) in the top left corner of the screen. This means that information can often be missed as it becomes obscured by detection warnings, despite Rise of Nightmares functioning perfectly when the step back warning appears.
