When I was but a lad, I was enthralled by a little game called Metroid. Actually, you might say I was in love – madly so at that. There was something about that game that captured me completely. The music was superb and intoxicatingly catchy, the creatures and characters were lovably memorable, and the style of it all was so surreal and bizarre; it was a beautiful medley of which I could never get enough. -Leviathyn's zevallo

I would have loved a 3rd person 3D Metroid instead of the crappy other M. This is what happens when Devs want to get 'creative' instead of giving the gamers what they want.
But if Retro isn't going to handle another FP Metroid I think the only salvation for the series would be a return to 2D. Sakamoto and Team Ninja really damaged the brand. Much like Square/Enix damaged FF with the last entry.
While Metroid has never been a hugely popular brand, it was labled as a game for the 'elite gamer' when it first released. But I think yet again, modern games are way to wordy and filled with too much fluff or flash and lacking on the substance.
