SMH – 5 Gaming Experiences I Never Want to Have Again | Infinite Ammo

After a particularly epic holiday season in gaming, I take a look back at the offerings from years past and wonder, "What the hell?!" (Final Fantasy VIII, GameCube, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty, PS2, Retro, Runescape, Super Mario Sunshine)

That section about runescape had me cracking up. Reminded me of all the hours I spent as a kid doing those same tasks. Took me a while to break out of that game.

I actually wasn't that surprised to see mgs2 as the number one pick. Most people hated that game and character. Surprisingly, I like that game a lot, like way to much. I think raiden is a great character, but I only realized it after I played mgs4 and the whole scope of the series unfolded. Didn't like him at the time, but I think hes an amazing character. Mgs4 turned around my entire view of mgs2 once I was able to put all the pieces of the story together.

*Minor Spoiler* (not really though)....its just crazy that the whole mgs2 plot was fake and just a simulation of shadow moses. Knowing that fact alone makes me want to play through it multiple times for various other details I may have missed.

Thanks for the comment! And yeah, going back into Runescape and seeing that person spamming Firemaking after five minutes... It was like looking into the past. Terrifying. LOL

Also, I can totally understand where you're coming from with Raiden. In the grand scheme of things, I can definitely appreciate what they were doing with him even down to the point of having him stand in so well as the player in MGS2; if you think about that last codec transmission in MGS2, the AI's there were actually talking to you as much as they were to Raiden, and that's pretty awesome. And incredibly unnerving.

But I was so, so excited for Solid Snake. LOL But oy--you read the article.

Are you excited for Rising then?

Yah, I remember playing as raiden for the first time and I almost wanted to return my game haha. I was pretty mad that I had to play as him instead of snake. I didnt like that at all. Took a while for me to adjust to it. Kojima definitely trolled every single mgs fan at that time with the whole snake tanker level.

From what I've seen of Rising, I am pretty excited. Im more excited about Rising from the perspective of a Platinum games fan than a MGS fan though. I think they do great work and I've enjoyed all their releases like madworld, bayonetta and vanquish. Most people are upset because they think its ruining the franchise name. Its just a spin off with MGS characters and Im more than ok with that. Im all for any game that takes criteria/story/characters from mgs.

I felt that way first time I played mgs2 too. But I quickly got over it after my 2nd play through. I started to like it so much I bought subsistence for those VR missions and extras, and to play it again lol. Now Metal Gear Rising...that looks bad, imo. I'm extremely disappointed in it. I would of liked it much better if it was the old 2009 build.
