How Do You Know When It’s Time to Stop Playing Skyrim?

Kotaku - How do you know when it's time to end Skyrim?

A couple days ago, I was reading a commenter here lamenting about the end of Skyward Sword — how they knew the end was inevitable, but they just couldn't help welling up with tears as the credits rolled. (PC, PS3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Xbox 360)

I finished the story and haven't been back on the game much, even though I still have tons of things I could do. I just went back to Dark Souls. I'm sure Skyrim will suck me back in eventually.

Once you realize there's no purpose to what you're doing.
Aside from the main story.

I've literally tired myself out from playing this game. I've been on it for hours these past 3 days. I'll take a break then hit it up again.

When the game gets so easy that I cant bring myself to play it anymore. 66 on master.

Or when you get your early access email for SWTOR.

Generally for me its when I finish the main story. This happens all the time for me in these games. I don't mean to stop, I still have a lot more exploring to do but for some reason once I finish that main story i just fade away. Maybe because there are other games that come out, maybe because I get busy in RL. Who knows, but happened to me in Morrowind, Oblivion, the fallouts. I keep meaning to go back for DLC but just never do. Its sad, and makes me paranoid about following the main quest which is why I am 130 hours or so in and have done like 3 missions on the main quest.

I don't know when I will stop playing this game lol. I think I am on the 8th main quest, that was many hours ago though. I have joined the Thieves Guild, met several Daedric Prince's. Completed a number of dungeons. Slayed a few Dragon's. Completed a ton of Misc Quests.

There is just so much to do in this game.

A. Join the guild of choice.(to learn class of choice potential abilities)

B. Explore and due side quest in order to max out your character. (level up)

C. Complete main campaign as an unstoppable bad a** as a reward for your hard work.

D. Wait for some good dlc (example nights of the nine: Oblivion)then choose a different path (good/evil) (honest/thief) (mage/warrior) and enjoy the game anew. (with a new area to explore, new baddies, new character build/tree)in other words it will make for geat replay value.
