really? I thought he did a better job than Neil Patrick Harris. He was funny and he had a pretty cool entrance as opposed to that dance number they did last year.
Forcing video game references stupidly just to show that "WE GAEMRS NOW GUISE XD" is well, uh, stupid. And if you laughed at any of the pitiful, completly lame stances of forced comedy that were present throughout the whole show, then you should be ashamed of yourself.
Overall I felt this was the best show so far, but that's not saying much. Most award shows aren't entertaining, there's generally a couple of reason you tune in, but as far as this VGA goes it wasn't bad, and that's the highest standard they have going for them right now.
I felt they should have had more awards shown, and not some huge montage of what won what, that many people missed.
The Hall of Fame was a nice touch that should be looked into more.
The breaks with the live Fruit Ninja and other games should be kept to a minimum. It's nice they're highlighting iOS and Android games, but the general audience isn't tuning in for that, so keep it lite.
The host was ok, not bad, not hilarious. Although he did have nice gaming references, and a likeable quirkiness.
The musical performances are debatable, but try aiming for a DJ, as well as artist from different genres come up to perform a song or two.
I think these changes would make the VGA's a decent show to watch. And of course have tons of game trailers and announcements for the show.
Once I saw that trailer for last of us, I was out... good thing they showed it at the start, seriously from the bits I saw it was an absolute piece of trash like every year. Just a bunch of random celebrity cameos that I neither nor care to know about. Incredibly annoying, the VGAs are an insult to gaming. I laugh when they try to get taken seriously, yea right.
Lucky... I stuck it out to the bitter end hoping for some redeeming surprise announcement somewhere. But in the end it was a turdfest. Should have just watched the trailers online and spent those two hours gaming.
why?you missed commander sheperd running from death beams from a 150ft long reaper then a thresher maw came out of nowhere then start beating the reapers a$$!!!
30mintutes of content with 2 hours worth of ads! Mygod... How do you Americans put up with all these advertisements :o And I thought it was bad over here in the UK...They didn't even give out the awards properly... Instead they chopped up melons and ate cakes... (also they nominated Dead Island for an award and didn't even invite them to the show!! (shows how fixed the awards really are and how did MW3 get best shooter :o... SO many great new fps's out this year that where amazing!)
Reveals where decent though last Of Us looked amazing so did Diablo 3 and I'm intrigued by EPICS new game. (hoping it's an good RTS!!)
I only watch for the reveals and world premieres. the musical performances are bad and the host jokes made me cringe so hard..This was a bit better than last years ( last years VGAs made me embarrassed to be a gamer it was that sad ). I think next year I'll just skip it and come to N4G to find out who won and stuff.
Much better then last years, pretty much every game that won deserved to. You could make a case for Batman being the GOTY, but I look at Skyrim and Batman as almost equals.
The reveals were cool, liked what I saw for the most part.
The show was an abomination. The juvenile humor, the teabagging, the phoned in celebrity cameos, the Jonas brother, all just awful.
And it doesn't matter who they pick to host the thing, until they get some good writers and stop with the stage gimmicks the show will always be a 50th rate awards show.
it was better than last years, but the only truly great things imo were The Last of Us trailer, The Transformers Fall of Cybrotron trailer, and Miyamoto getting the standing ovation and Hall of Fame award he so rightfully deserved.
The VGAs were just bad. Not even the trailers shown were that good. The only good ones were The Last of Us and Alan Wake, which actually showed gameplay! Screw the awards. I'm not watching them next year.
The VGA's are mainstream garbage. The only highlights were the premiers and the Hall of Fame, which isn't the actual Hall of Fame, but more of a mainstream type of Hall of Fame.
I didn't think the VGAs were "good" but I did think it was better than last years, and maybe the year before that too. The world premieres made it watchable.

Sounds like I didn't miss much.

Augmented Reality was decent too.
I swear the VGA's are the worst thing to happen to gaming since they gave teenagers and Sociopaths a headset.
I would really like to see a proper game award ceremony one day, one that doesn't just plug celebs for an hour, fix the awards and cater to idiots.
Also I didn't like how you couldnt stream it if you're outside america but i found one anyway.

Talk about tone deaf.
VGA's are a joke.
