AusGamers was given an Australian exclusive interview opportunity with BioWare's Dr. Ray Myzuka and Jon Van Caneghem, to talk about the creation of BioWare Victory, Command & Conquer: Generals 2 and working with Frostbite 2.0l, among much more.
From the interview:
"Frostbite 2 has a lot of horsepower and the challenge for us is to find the best way to harness that power to make sense for our game. Stunning visuals are just part of it, what is really exciting is how the engine is going to help make the game more immersive through destructibility and the scope of the battles we are going to be able to achieve. It all plays a part in making the player feel like they really are in total command over these massive armies."
A spiritual successor to the 'Game I Want To Play - But Haven't Been Made' opinion piece series. This first chapter of the new and re-titled series looks at the potential to a true (and not cancelled) sequel to the classic title 'Command & Conquer: Generals'.
Much to the dismay of anyone looking forward to the new Command & Conquer, the game was shelved by EA on 29 October but it looks like it's now being moved to a new studio and development will resume.
An alpha forum post from somebody claiming to be a (former) Victory Games employee has stated that the press release line about Command & Conquer being shut down due to unfavourable feedback about the alpha was “total bs.”

Damn, looks I'm going to have to break down and build that new computer. My old gaming rig died and since the pile of parts I'm on now isn't up to any sort of modern spec, I was back playing Zero Hour and some other old games and wondering if it would ever come back. I love RTS games on PC and Generals was one of the better ones for it's time.
Destructible environments in an RTS? Count me in!
