GB : We have come to know that Ryse has been pushed to the next-gen xbox
Not going to lie, if this is true, I'm both pretty damn disappointed and pretty damn excited at the same time. [IF TRUE] Crytek pretty much confirmed that they are working on stuff for the NeXbox. [ELSE] I'm still REALLY looking forward to this new IP. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
This means new Xbox next year? I think so :P
I don't think so... maybe an announcement by the end of the year, but that's the farthest it'll go for 2012.
Every single electronic product in the past 30 years of business announces a product the year before it releases. Meaning if announced this year it won't be released until the following year. It's called exposure and hype. The next Xbox won't release until 2013 at the earliest possible date. No hoping or praying will change that. Too the disagreer name a product? I challenge you
it most likely mean that Microsoft will be revealing the next-gen Xbox next year
@ MoreRpg You could be right. I think it would be a mistake seeing that the 360 is still selling. Unless there is a major drop off in sales it doesn't make sense from a business perspective. Why fracture your user base between 2 systems? That will hurt sales. Developers jump to the next console and don't look back. They have a hard enough time making three games for consoles. Making four just isn't cost effective. The 360 will become a lame duck. The only reason the Ps2 kept selling is because their first party studios kept making games for it. If I was Ms, I would wait for a substantial sales drop then move on. They are making money now. Too come out with a new system means they are going to lose money until they get a good user base for the new system.
Launch game for 720 confirmed..
I'd love to play Ryse, but I absolutely love the fact that Crytek is going to both have way more development time and also next gen assets.
My predition since early in the year is coming to fruition..Xbox 720 announced at E3 2012 and 720 arriving in the fall of 2013.
Life is good
"Every single electronic product in the past 30 years of business announces a product the year before it releases. " That comment is so full of fail I don't know where to begin.
@Shubhankar XBOX 360 had a build up at the start of the year using an ARG called mycolony, which led to a televised unveiling full of celebrities, and the console itself was released by the christmas. Build up, Tease, announcement , release, all in 2005. We're already a year overdue for a new console going off industry trends, but we'll put that down to the economy at the moment. Earliest we'll see a new console in my opinion is xmas 2012, latest will be end of 2013 early 2014. But I'm almost certain they'll be announced at e3, if not then things are looking grim as yet another year will have to go by of consoles holding back advancements in game design, its crazy what some of the new cards are capable of yet nobody's utilizing them on pc because they also have to design their games around consoles to ensure a profit. The sooner newer consoles come out the better it will be for gamers everywhere, regardless if they're biased to one console over another. But I don't see nex gen consoles having 3 gb gpu's sadly :( 2gb maybe, but i have a feeling the economy will also effecct the graphical leap, we'll be seeing 1gb gpu's in nex gen consoles, would be financially unadvisable to put in a graphics card that as a stand alone costs between 600-800 euro.
If they have just recently moved Ryse Nexbox, the game won't come out until late 2013. This doesn't really indicate how early the Nexbox is going to launch. Nexbox is a day 1 purchase for me even at $600.

"Every single electronic product in the past 30 years of business announces a product the year before it releases." The Xbox 360 was officially announced on May 12, 2005. It hit shelves On November 22, 2005. Much less than a year. Unless you're speaking about non-official hype, but that has clearly already begun. In short you're... http://www.youtube.com/watc...
@mandf - The first iPhone was unveiled by Steve Jobs, then CEO of Apple, on January 9, 2007, and released on June 29, 2007.
iPhone 4s was released like 2 weeks after announcement.
If that's the case (I'd still take it with a pinch of salt for now) I wonder if it's the hardware or more specifically, a next-gen Kinect that they need/want. Because lets be honest, the current Kinect just isn't responsive and accurate enough for any real grand AAA expectations.
No matter what you may think Dance Central 1 and 2 are both AAA.
Also do you have a deveopers kit or are you a deveoper? Kinect can be very responsive depending on how much time and effort the developers outs into it.
The developers for Kun-Fu Live are reprograming the game for Kinect and they said that were amazed by the tech and acurracy.
Ridiculously smart move by Crytek. The benefit that Epic Games's engine business got from their parternship with MS on Gears of War was both obvious and huge. They are obviously trying to reap the same benefit from Xbox 3 for themselves.
Also this is interesting for a number or reasons. 1, it all but proves that the next Xbox will have a Kinect like device. 2, Suggests 2012 release of the next Xbox. 3, shows that Crytek are getting into tablet games as well.
I like your thinking.
It would be a bit disappointing not to play Ryse on 360 next year, but it would also make for a very tempting launch title on the next gen system.
It does NOT suggest a 2012 release of the next Xbox. It suggests a 2012 announcement of the next Xbox and it suggests that Ryse will be a launch game.
Agreed. I don't think there is a snow balls chance in hell we see a next xbox in 2012, but I do think we get the announcement of the next box coming in 2013. Ryse will 100% be a launch title. It will be hardcore Kinect to kick off the next box which will all come with Kinect. I actually am now more excited for Ryse as I think it will benefit 100% from going on the next system. I was a bit afraid for Ryse after my time with Rise of Nightmares...this gives me hope for the game now.
LOL..I don't think in a million years that Crytek would have resorted to Sega's House of Dead' campy type Rise of Nightmares experience for Ryse.
But the extra development time even in the range of an extra year to two years is definately going to be benificial to the game and to gamers.
We are playing the 3rd Gears 5 years later all on the strength of it's incredible debut on the 360. Ryse could be franchise status if it can have that kind of impact on a revised Kinect.
Good, crytek will get to flex their muscle again. Me and the rest of the modding community had to mod crysis 2 up to pc standards, eventually after adding high res textures, new tod, better shadows, DOF, parrallax occlusion mapping, tessalation and DX 11, crysis 2 looks amazing.
the next gen era of kinect should much better spec wise
That makes sense, Kinect can't really control games that well.
This is the best thing for ryse. This means longer development and more feature. If they moved it that means they have to reprogram and go through all the 1st stage kits. If development has started for the next xbox we will not see it for at least 2 years for good development. Remember m$ hasnt even announced it. They announced the 360 & kinect about 2 years before release. 2012 will be about finishing the 360 and moving everyone to develop to the next xbox. They are NOT in a rush they still have halo 4, a price cut, and GREAT sales going for them.
Don't take this as a conformation of the Next Box vein released next year. Crytek have been named as the developers of Homefront 2, of which has a release window of 2013, they have claimed that the sequel will be the greatest game the studio have developed to date, therefor, they will be focusing the majority of their staff on that project, perhaps picking Ryse back up approaching the completion of Homefront 2 in 2013... Also, let's not forget the solidification of Halo 4 as a current generation title...
I don't think that is relevant. The only people working on Homefront 2 are Crytek UK, where as Crytek Frankfurt are working on Ryse and probably also Crysis 3.
The thing that you are forgetting/unaware of is that Crytek have 6 studios with over 600 employees. Another thing about Crytek is that they want every game they release to be the best game they have ever released.
Yeah because no one has ever released the same game duel platform before... right?
@mandf Technically, Sega didnt announce the Saturn at all. Yes, I know how that turned out, but just pointing out that in the last 30 years, it did happen.
The 2013 Xbox 720 release is all but confirmed now. I bet they'll also bring over the current Kinect.
Kinect 2 will come with the next Xbox.
Well I guess the new Xbox as been technically confirmed in some form then. I didn't think Ryse would go on to an advanced system quite a shocker actually, well there goes one of our exclusives.
I knew it! I called this a while ago, Crytek is working on things for the next Xbox, Epic is as well, probably EA and we know Microsoft bought Twisted Pixel, are hiring at Rare and opened 4 new game studios this year. That combined with the slow pace of exclusives was easy to deduce that the next Xbox will be with us next year. I know a lot of PS3 fans are not going to want Microsoft to get a jump on the next generation yet again, but it's happening. Halo 4 is probably a launch title as well, I think it comes out on the current 360 as well, but I also think it makes the most sense to start a new trilogy on new hardware.
I think the question we should all be asking is: Was it ever in development for the 360? Or was it merely used an a exclusive to show off for that E3 w/o ever having the intention of releasing it for the 360? Either way this is confirmation that next gen is coming really soon =D(I'm happy)
Confirmed new next gen xbox dev kits are at Crytek studios. I always felt that the game Ryse was better suited on next gen technolog and looking forward to Crysis 2 on the next xbox with updated graphics and visuals.
I was going to say that I couldnt see Crysis 2 being released on the next gen Xbox but then again there is no reason for it not to be. The PC version is already probably about where the next xbox will sit in terms of graphics, so they could perhaps do a straight port of C2 PC with DX11 to Xbox 3.
This is excellent news. Commander, prepare my shuttle for immediate departure to the next Xbox!
They should move more games to the nextgen.
