GamerTalk.tv: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review

Oh Bethesda… How I doubted you. After playing Fallout 3 I vowed never to play another one of your games. I didn’t find Fallout 3 an appealing or interesting game to immerse myself in. I always thought that open world games were boring and a waste of time unless it was Rockstar making them. My previous experiences with The Elder Scrolls weren’t exactly good either. I vaguely remember borrowing Morrowind from a classmate back in middle school and didn’t like it. I thought to myself: “What? An elf? A lizard? What is this game?” I didn’t get far. As for Oblivion, I rented it at Blockbuster and also found it uninteresting and boring. The graphics were awesome at the time but the character models were ugly and I wasn’t into the whole fantasy setting. Perhaps it was because I was young and my taste for games was not yet fully developed. But now, being older, I see video games in a different light and I came to a realization. Bethesda games are pretty damn epic. I learned that The Elder Scrolls was a franchise that practically pioneered the open world RPG genre and after seeing how far they’ve come, I put my prejudices aside and opened up to the Elder Scrolls. But I still had a hint of skepticism when it came to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I didn’t know what to make of it. Needless to say, my curiosity was piqued; will it really take over my life like all the game websites say it will? Will I really want to isolate myself from the world and live life as a hermit in my time with Skyrim? I want to share my Skryim story… (PC, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim) -
