Goozernation reflects on what made Arcades popular back in the 80s and 90s. Most of the great arcades are gone and many gamers had their first gaming experiences there. There were a couple arcade machines at our local pool when I was 11 or so. To this day the smell of chlorine and the taste of grape Laffy Taffy reminds me of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.
