Microsoft have announced that that Xbox LIVE Marketplace Video Store will open for business in the UK, Ireland, France and Germany on 11th December...
Lets hope MS release new content every wednesday like they do with Arcade games.
i do not gice crap about the [email protected]
I really thought that SONY would be the 1st to deliver movie downloads in europe!
Guess I (like MANY Sony fans) was completely wrong again!
but please try and remember that M$ have a whole year on sony, there for in reality if sony gets theirs up and running within the next 12 months it actually came to their console sooner after its release. plus all the PSP intergration with is obviously gonna take some time.
Yep, but Sony has a movie company so that should push them a bit, but no.
Why would Sony want downloadable movies, wouldn't that effectively be saying... "look at BluRay, its fantastic, but you don't need it at all now".
cool,eraser in HD.
it'll be interesting to see how much money M$ try and squeeze out of people for a movie. i read an article that stated if you were to download a family guy season then it would actually cost alot more than buying the box set.
i think we all know what microsoft is about but i dont care how much they coat thats why i have parents lol
You Europeans have been waiting for VMP(Video market place) but I read you guys more than likely get IPTV first in a bigger way in parts of Europe. You guys are set all you need is a flat pannel tele.
already got one :) just waiting for IPTV and video marketplace to launch :D
Xbox 360 consumers in Europe are very excited for the launch of Video Marketplace. This will undoubtedly be a hit with European Xbox 360 consumers and will continue to drive the success of the Xbox 360 Video Marketplace as it reaches more territories worldwide
Zhuk anytime i see your comments it always makes me laugh.bubbles for you
When will The Netherlands follow? BTW I didn't discover the clan support in the current update.
I guess @ 11 December, a second update will come (?)
where's the Dutch support? Or are we able to dl from Holland anyway?
I watched the news cast in the new update and they have indeed added the IPTV functionality.
I wonder once MSFT starts selling bulk shipments of 360 consoles to cable providers how it will effect future software sales(possible generation winning move written in stone).
wishful thinking there mate.
but do you have any idea when the service will start.Video on demand is great but IPTV service is what i am most excited about
No wishfull thinking. This info has been on the net already for some time. BT in UK will certainly have deals like that. Become a new customer for IPTV and get a XBOX 360 with it (maybe with a small extra fee for it).
It's a whole new way to get 360's into living rooms, first used for IPTV then the family discovers the games also etc.
Microsoft stepped in the consoleworld to have the living room experience on games/sound/movies secured (if they left Sony on the gameconsoles, which could take over with video etc. in the livingroom, their mediacenter would get heavy competition).
So the MS strategy is a very interesting one. And you'll see some interesting IPTV deals with 360's from 3rd party's as the TV providers combined with Internet providers will start to roll out in 2008.
nobody is gonna use an xbox as their source for television, sky or freeview have that sown up. your average guy in the street doesnt want this sort of thing, they just want to try on the tv and watch it, not fumble around with a games console.
and with regards to:
"It's a whole new way to get 360's into living rooms, first used for IPTV then the family discovers the games also etc. "
isnt that the sort of thing that you were bashing the ps3 for? i thought it was all about the games mate?
here's a thought...
WHAT ABOUT CANADA! WTF!!
When is it coming here? i haven't even heard about it coming to canada, which pisses me off.
it seems sony isnt the only company by whom they always get shafted. LOL
Europe gets shafted by everyone. ;)
is that price to download and keep or is it deleted after you have watched it?
it gets deleted 24 hours after first watching it. Still, a pretty good deal, if I rent a dvd where I live, it costs me just a little less than renting a hd movie from xblm.
I wish MicroSoft hadn't said they were bringing the Video Marketplace to EUROPE, which made me very excited, only to find out they meant 4 countries in Europe...
There really is more to Europe than the UK, Ireland, France and Germany...
People would be pissed off if some news report said something was coming to America only to see it available in Florida, Idaho and California and nowhere else...
Still, I understand the problems with licencing and all... I just wish they'd give some more clear information on when other countries can expect the service (if at all)...
(Or does anyone know if setting your console's 'locale' to the UK will fool the service and allow you to download the things?
(probably not, but hey, I can dream :P)
mmm nice smattering of different movies there for the UK but not many new ones. What's it like in the US? Do you get many new releases around the same time as they're out on DVD?
Well at least the UK is getting something at last, I do love the lastest update which is awesome. The guide and inferface is so much faster and smoother and everything is so much better. =D
Europeans complain about the lack of content and the 3rd fiddle treatment of euro gamers in the Industry, You can't say MS is not trying.....good thing I live in the US.
Anyone get a chance to try some stuff with the new update, I wanna see if some of my Divx/Xvid files work, I know they didn't work while browsing MCE on the 360.
For one thing there is so much Features, MS never really boasted/touted about during all the Press before the 360 came out that we have now, I'm amazed today how far XBL has come.
little things here and there and really I've noticed, MS doesn't make that much promises, they just come out and say, you are getting this, and you get it sooner than later. Except for countries with strange laws/barriers and such.
well theres good news for Europeans
