Radical studio head Ken Rosman admitted Heller’s ethnicity was something, “Nobody wants to touch” when asked if the Prototype 2 hero’s African American origins were a tricky subject.
Looks like we rolled at the same time. Why is race still an issue in 2011. (almost 2012.)? I couldn't care less if main character is black, white, purple, green or blue as long as the game is good.
OMG BUT CANT U SEE THE RACISM ITS A BLACK MAN INTENTIONALLY INFECTING HIMSELF WITH THE VIRUS THIS IS SYMBOLIC OF AFRICAN AMERICAN CRACK USAGE /sarcasm
Does it really matter? Black, White, Chinese, Cat, Alien, Dog? I won't be judging the game by what the main character looks like, i'll be judging it by how it plays
You should see some YouTube comments about how they won't buy the game because he's black...but then again, its youtube. LOL
You see dumber comments on youtube than any other site on the internet. You would though since it's so popular. Kind of like how ign has far dumber comments in its sections than other gaming sites.
Yep, I swear it must be that youtube attracts a large part of the "watch tv all day" demographic, because it has the lions share of ignorant and tasteless comments.
Don't know why that would have been a big deal. As long as he's a believable character and the developers haven't loaded him with offensive stereotypes, I see no problem. Everyone is so sensitive about race but we can't get past our issues if we aren't willing to talk about them in a constructive manner. But if no one talks, there will always be issues.
Same reason the world ended when Idris Ilba was cast as the gatekeeper god Heimdall in the movie Thor. And it turned out, his character was considered one of the best in the movie. If it goes against the status quo when it comes to skin color, those who feel they're skin privilege is being encroached upon, be it a movie, video game, or even the POTUS for that matter, will always complain and let they're true feelings and fear of becoming irrelevant, guide they're emotions. The fact that this is even an issue, shows we still have a long way to go when it comes to race.
People bitched about Heimdall because, well, its based on Norse Mythology. I wouldn't want some white guy playing John Henry, now would I? As far as this game goes, I really don't understand the issue at all.
That's not racist at all... just come out with it. Jeez.
