Xbox360Cheats asks the question - For all the improvements in technology and development over the years, has gaming actually got any harder?
Nope. It's getting too easy. Now days you have checkpoints, auto aim, and all that nonsense. Hook up an NES and play CONTRA then come tell me modern gaming is hard. Pff... back in my day when we got killed 3 times, you had to start the hell over and do it all over again! *shakes fist*
Agreed. LOL wayyyyyyyyyy easier. I remember playing NES games and there were no continues..once you died that was it. Start the game over again. Whoever is asking this question is like very young and never experienced games from the 80's and such.
Hell no if anything they've gotten to easy last hard game i played was KZ2 on Elite i shall never ever speak of that again. It's sad to see them being to easy i want a challenge not to be spoonfed by these devs SMH at maximum.
I started gaming during the Atari 2600 and then C-64, so my answer of course is no. However the hard then was tedious bullshit.
I smashed a joystick up with rage after playing wings of fury on the Amiga!
The only thing harder is finding a game that is an actual challenge......
Go back and play Ghost and Goblins and cringe when you have to beat the game twice and you will laugh at anyone claiming games now are hard. I have yet to play a HARD GAME on consoles or PC in the last 20+ years.
no and i hope it stays like this way. hard games for the most part are controller breakers or rage trade ins. i play games for the experience not to replay the same section over and over again. want a hard game go play demon souls or dark souls and leave us sane gamers alone.
Fail comment. I die a lot in STALKER...that game is freakin hard even with checkpoints. I welcome a good challenge that doesn't hold my hand, I am not five years old.
No. You clearly don't know what NES hard means.
Games of today are for babys. At least around 360 launch there were 'hard achievements'. Now that's a definite no-no. Can't have your baby fanbase missing out on their EZ Gamerscore or they'll throw all their perks out of the pram. "Challenge" - What does this mean again?
Killzone 2 - Radec/right before Radec - Elite Difficulty will show you what challenge is.
3 Lives, 1 Hit kills, 3 Continues, says nope.
most games dont punish for dying, except dark souls/demons souls. But there are still plenty of pc exclusive games that are hard as hell even with quicksaves, like stalker, shogun 2, witcher 2 on the hardest mode, arma 2, Cryostasis, VVVVVV. But overall, games are way easier.
Gaming has become easier, back then when you had all these games in your library you never ever finish every game some games were just so hard. some games you did finish. people are so used to now finishing games. It's nice to be able to finish a game but a challenging games that makes you work for that's finishing, is well deserved
It should be noted that in his conclusion he did say there will always be exceptions and he has targeted long running franchises which would offer the best comparison. NES was certainly an exception, it was stupidly hard. Good theory but inaccurate results.
SNES games were hard too...and so were a lot of N64 and PSX games...the original Siphon Filter almost had me tearing my hair out. To this day I still haven't conquered Mario 64 (though I know a few people who have). How about Chakan The Forever Man on the Sega Genesis? That was crazy hard...and very, very dark. We just don't get games like that anymore. The closest thing would be The Darkness but it's just so much more goofier than what Chakan was and way easier.
