PS3 Exclusive 'The Last Of Us' vs. The Fungus Among Us?

The Last Of Us is a new PlayStation 3 exclusive to be officially announced at the Spike TV Video Game Awards on December 10th. The new trailer for the game doesn’t show anything but live-action footage, but it does seem pretty intriguing.

I saw that also, surprised nobody's mentioned it. I think it's pretty fishy considering the narrator in the video is speaking of memories before his current situation.

EDIT: I see PirateThom debunked my theory. You never know, maybe Sony bought the rights to the movie and turned it into a game. Lol

Naw, Zombies are scarier. For all the thinking and planning humans do, it means nothing when the horde arrives. Plus they eat you alive, way scarier than a plan.

yea but imagine only a few humans left that aren't infected by the fungus and a horde of concious humans that are infected with this fungus and are desperately ravaging everything because they are scared and are trying to cure themselves while the fungus eats them and makes them do crazy things...much more intriguing to play against than zombies...They would have organization as well as chaos and there are a small number of non-infected people and you're one of them trying to find a cure but also stay alive. I think that would be way better than zombies which is usually just mindless blasting.

Me too! I wouldn't mind seeing an Enslaved: Odyssey to the West/Fallout type-world for a survival horror third-person shooter/RPG....but of course...being able to pull it off is a different story.

I remember seeing that freaky fungus on an episode of planet earth sometime ago, if I remember correctly the fungus really screws with the ants brain and makes it climb up a leaf or branch so it can release more spores to infect more ants.

I'm gonna keep an eye on this one.

I don't know why people are are jumping on zombies. What, the world can't be infected or be apocalyptic without zombies? Why does every virus and bacteria have to make zombies? I watched Thundar the Barbarian years ago. That was apocalyptic and not a zombie in sight.

Totally agree! Literally in every topic regarding the matter you hear "Not another zombie game". Like WTF? How the heck do you get zombie out of riots and a fungus infecting an ant?? Does every virus lead to Zombies?? Which technically are supposed to be undead??

For all we know it could be just like "The Thing" where an organism takes over the human race, killing everything in it's path. If the enemy is anything like the fungus, then it has to be an organism, not some bacteria/"virus".

I think its Resident Evil. The ant in that video has been infected with a parasite that takes over the body and forces the ant to crawl to the top of a stalk so that it may be eaten by a bird, allowing the parasite to then infect the bird.

In RE4 you can find a log by Luis that mentions these parasites and how the Las Plagas work fundamentally similar to them.

I hope it be like NAUSSICA OF THE WIND, one of my favorite anime movies ever, in that world the fungus covers a great extension of the earth destroying human civilization slowly, if its any like that i would be great.

But it can be a psn only game only like dead nation, that while is good is not a giant ip o AAA game.

I agree but do you think there is, now, a capable developer to do it without spoiling it with massification and what most people want (I mean, FPS crazy shooting all the way)? I don't, not even a more independent dev who laid down ALL the terrain to do it (yep, Dead Island) could afford[/want] to make it when the best time was there.

Maybe a mix between Silent Hill mojo and Bethesda 'FPSism'(?) could come close but I guess Silent Hills are no more either, unfortunately =|

Maybe if Quantic Dreams (Heavy Rain) and Remedy Entertainment (Alan Wake) should join hands and make the real zombie game that doesn't exist yet. =P
