Rare today announced a series of new hirings for its Kinect Sports: Season Two team, including a new executive producer and a technical art director.
I want to kill Rare for not releasing new Conker 2 or new Killer Instinct.. ..and of course re-releasing Conker 3D 3ds :)
Since the key developers for rare has left the studio what remains is just the name. Viva pinata was actually pretty good and though disappointed by the new banjo kazooie ive liked the concept of making crazy cars, planes etc.
It isn't their fault, they have to do what they're told. Right now, MS wants Kinect games, and they had started to work on a new Perfect Dark, but MS wanted Kinect games instead. http://www.youtube.com/watc... http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Hopefully, Microsoft realises the potential of remaking a lot of Rare's classics from the Nintendo 64 era and how successful it could be. Take a good look at Sony and the releases of God of War, God of War II and the upcoming release of Jak & Daxter. It is working great for them, so it baffles me as to why Microsoft continue ignoring some true gaming classics.
Viva Pinata Kinect please, you would think it's a no-brainer given the efforts to promote the 'family friendly' originals a few years back. Which were the best Rare titles in quite a wee while.. (maybe ever?)
Not gonna happen. If the series has or had quality, substance and charm, Rare probably won't make a game for it. Hence all this Kinect garbage they've been making for Microsoft. I'm so waiting for Nintendo to come to the rescue and snatch these guys up before Microsoft ruins them like half of the 1st party studios they've owned.
A new VP seems a lot more likely than your Nintendo buy-out scenario, to be fair. Kinect Sports has quality, substance and charm - so did Nuts & Bolts. Their reputation has been blackened since joining MS but the games haven't dipped in quality. In fact we can be thankful they're not churning out mind-numbing, empty-world collect-a-thons like they were in the failed N64 years.
What a soul-crushing job.
its a shame the 'used to be' amazing dev team rare have been put on the shovel ware side of microsoft, they used to make such great games, i miss the good ol days :(
most of greatest devs from Rare still work at Nintendo now.. I wish Microsoft sold Rare's old IPs like Conker (at least conker) and Ninty would make something on Nintendo with a quality like it meant to be..
Don't the old Rare devs work at Retro Studios? Retro Studios are the devs who replaced Rare
@Pikajew I think they are now at Nintendo EAD if I am not mistaken... they do make great games though
they were looking for accents for irish & some other nationalities i don't recall, about 2 weeks ago.. i thought the kinect would have been dead before it even started.
I am patiently waiting for the day where Microsoft shuts them down. They are a POS developer, ever since they were sold to MS. Microsoft needs to take them out of their misery...
They've put out some really quality stuff with Microsoft actually. Viva Pinata is probably one of the best 360 exclusives, not to mention all of the other 80+ games they put out this gen like Kameo, PDZ (the story in this game is laughable though), and BK:N&B. Then don't forget about Conker:L&R for the original Xbox. They've done good work, but Microsoft just hasn't spent the money to market their stuff, hence why it normally tanks. Just look at Viva Pinata. The first one came out within weeks of Halo 3 and of course everyone and their grandmother saw Halo 3 ads, but you would be hard pressed to find even a Viva Pinata print ad, much less a giant string of commercials and movie shorts.
ya I sooo want new viva pinata and banjo kazooie.
Rare will you please tell MS to shove it up their ass and make a new KI game for all consoles stop BS making nothing but bad games and crap
They need to make a great adventure game like Uncharted and call it Perfect Dark 2.
Kinect Sports is a really good game and so is Kameo.
So does this mean they'll be announcing some new, core 360 games then?
RARE, you're doing it wrong, this is the list of things to do: Quit Microsoft. Comeback to Nintendo. Get your old logo back.
