"O'Connor said: "Seven years is the life of a smart AI, before it reaches the state of savagery. Cortana has reached the end of their lifetime in Halo 3 is almost, but she was exposed to much more information than any artificial intelligence before. They will evolve through this process but it also contributes to savagery at -. So much information, only make it worse "

Theres still a chance for Cortana, apparently if an AI can get through Rampancy they become Metastability but most argue that she is already reached Metastability.

"Metastability is the theoretical fourth stage of rampancy, where an AI can finally be said to be a true "person." While a metastable AI can be considered to be the holy grail of cybernetics research, the only AIs who have possibly achieved metastability are 05-032 Mendicant Bias and Cortana. However, Halo Origins suggests that Cortana did indeed become rampant, though it is possible she had to go through rampancy to get to metastability." - Taken from Halo.Wikia.com

Apparently when an AI goes through Rampancy they go through three stages.

I'm not quite sure if Cortana has already went through Rampancy, most Halo fans say that when the Gravemind took hold of her and she had these "moments" when she telepathicaly connected with the chief (when everything slows down and you see visions of her) that was Cortana going through it.

The thing is though with the Halo universe being as big as it is, theres a lot of people who wouldn't know about this sort of stuff if they didn't read the books or most of the logs in the game....I wish they would work some of the important things in the game so everyone has a clear view on what the hell is going on.

I know it sounds silly but with it being the future and all I wish Cortana could have a body and fight with the Chief. I mean they go always have a Artaficial real life human body with a computer brian which does what a normal brain does and they just upload her into there. Would be cool to have more interaction between her and the Chief and it would be nice for the female fans to actually have a female to pick when there online. Think it would be a nice thing to do if by Halo 6 the last in the next trilogy they have to go that to save her from Rampancy.

Haha good to see someone knows their stuff :D Somehow my brain knew savagry meant Rampancy haha. Really wanna read all the books again now... Kinda hyped now, and I wish frankie would do weekly updates at 343 like he used to do with bungie, they were the best!

Oh, its a reference to things in the books? I thought his statement was gibberish and I read it a few times thinking there was some typos or something.
