Resident Evil: Outbreak online server to close

Capcom has announced that the online servers for its PlayStation 2 titles, Resident Evil: Outbreak and Monster Hunter will be closing permanently on December 31, 2007.

News comes following the revelation that the external company hosting the server for both games revealed it is pulling out of the PlayStation 2 online business indefinitely. Efforts were made in an attempt to extend the contract or possibly move the hosting elsewhere, but to no avail.

The story is too old to be commented.

Hmm, I thought the Outbreak servers had closed quite a while ago. Kind of disappointing. Had I known they were still up I would have picked up the games again.

I think the PS3 servers have a few more users than that of the PS2. Might last more like 4-5 years ;)

Unlike the PS2, PS3 come standard with the ability to play online right out of the box. The PS2 you needed to buy the modem.

after the modem was released then it came standard.

oh and ps3 will have more people online? based upon what the ps2's 120m users in the end?

Is why Dedicated servers suck. Yes you get a better spped but your at the mercy of the owner of the server.
