Denkiphile: Uncharted 3 Review

Denkiphile: "Not only has there been a movement in recent years to make video games more akin to art, but also cinema. While Heavy Rain has made huge strides in this department, it was arguably more of movie than game; instead, the key players in the movement have been the Metal Gear Solid and Uncharted series. With the last game in the series, Uncharted has definitely closed the gap, and it does so even more with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception while staying true to its roots as an engaging action game – possibly even the strongest contender for action game of the year. " (PS3, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception) 10/10

I realised how amazing this game is when a whole bunch of kids from the youth group I volunteer for turned up whilst I was watching a Uncharted 3 gameplay video and couldn't help but sit their with their jaws on the floor.

These kids only buy 2 games every year; COD/MW and FIFA.

These kids sat there and asked me why COD/MW don't have graphics like UC and if the game was real?!

When kids like these are turned around from COD/MW only, that is a true mark of achievement!

Yeah but it also shows how poor the market has been in recent years. All these different games come out and yet call of duty and a sports title is all they get because its all they know?

This is why certain genres are sufferring and less companies are willing to take creative risks.

But yes, it is an achievement to turn someone away from their usual into something new.

"Yeah but it also shows how poor the market has been in recent years"

this is ridiculous, each new year is a better year for gaming, even if people like to buy always the same things, and always the best sellers, this is not changing the fact that we can play more, and way better games than before..(it's not a fact who concern only gaming, we can see more and more great movies, but people ignore most of them and run like sheeps to see the blockbusters)
