CNET responds to Gerstmann firing

CNET has issued an official response concerning the departure of GameSpot editor Jeff Gerstmann.

In a statement, the company said:

"GameSpot takes its editorial integrity extremely seriously. For over a decade, GameSpot and the many members of its editorial teal have produced thousands of unbiased reviews that have been a valuable resource for the gaming community. At CNET Networks, we stand behind the editorial content that our teams produce on a daily basis."

Rumours continue to swell around Gerstmann's departure, suggesting that the long-time editor was let go after an incident involving his unfavorable review of Kane & Lynch.

CNET would not elaborate on the circumstances, stating only that it was their policy not to comment on the status of its current or former employees.

talk about a vague comment. and i laughed at "thousands of unbiased reviews."

its a shame that he was let go due to his opinion. i watched the video review, and it struck me as honest and from the game playing in the background,) quite accurate.

and other publications seem to agree with what he says anyways.

The game is ASS, I grant you and him and anyone else that. the even worse part about it... GAMESPOT is even more ASS than KANE & LYNCh is, so maybe they should review themselves.

Gamespot needs to go, EIDOS needs to go... THQ, EA SPORTS, UBI-SOFT. I'm sick of all of them. Just go. You make lousy products... deal with the reviews when they come in. That's whaT I say. Gamespot is notorious for being biased, however, in this instance a multiplatform game that had no ps3 vs xbox 360 header attached to it.. I don't think it had anything to do with bias... It's just a PUDDLE OF PIG PISS game. Maybe Eidos can get me fired now... I'm a DM of Gamestop and I tell everyone not to buy the game.

"For over a decade, GameSpot and the many members of its editorial teal have produced thousands of unbiased reviews"

at that part is where you include "but after Greg left we stopped doing that and embraced the moneyz" (even more)

don't worry people it might have been a silly mistake they will add that last part tomorrow ;) (and no I don't mean the "teal" part)

@Chubear: dude don't start I am gonna have nightmares, but lets be honest GS was going a LOT better than when Jeff was put in charge

I dunno.I saw a vid or two for kane and lynch.everything seemed so staged. The cops, atmosphere etc. This game sucks. They obviously did want the game to be rated high considering the amount of money thats being ploughd into advertising. Same as NFS pro street, both suck

They are gonna have to come up with a good excuse this time... They're losing subscribers as we speak... :P
