Microsoft issues a statement regarding the recent Phishing attacks on its xbox live members.
Is this unrelated to the Fifa thing? Those weren't phishing, so this has to be different.
This has to do with XBL users giving their private financial details and passwords to unknown individuals and then getting robbed from their accounts
The response should be along the lines of "if you were stupid enough to give someone else your login info you got what you deserved"
if your stupid enough to have a xbox as your only console your stupid enough to give your private info on air
Having an Xbox as your only console is a sign of preference, not intelligence. I seriously hope people like you eventually grow up and actually cut this sony/pc shit.
I'm so angry with MS at the moment, my account got hacked, MS said they would investigate and keep me informed on the matter and in the time of investigation my account has been in lockdown (no buying or downloading on live). So have I heard from MS in the 3 weeks that this has been happening? No f****ing way! Can't download shit and i have no idea what is happening... EDIT: I didn't give any of my info to anyone.
Just because you didn't give your info to anyone doesn't mean you didn't make it easy on the hacker. Maybe you had a weak password? Have you tried calling Microsoft back?
Ummm... Its in lockdown for a reason. And the investigation takes a month, 2 at the most. EDIT: Your account is not the only one that microsoft has to investigate you know.
I know my account isn't the only one to investigate, but when they "say" they are going to keep in contact me through the weeks, i expect a phone call in the 3 weeks.
Curious, but did you check your points history and saw PREMIUM PACKS bought for Fifa? If they're up there, then you got hit by the Fifa hack like I did last month. And yea, the investigation does take about 28 days, so unfortunately you're high and dry atm on that account. The best thing you can do is to call them up in a few days to see the current situation if they started the investigation on your account. @Bzone24 If it's the Fifa one, it doesn't matter how strong your password is, as they are able to change it.
Since when is giving someone your password and user info a hack? It's fraud, but not a hack.
Yeah they stole points, and tried to download all my DLC to their console. Lucky I check my hotmail everyday and noticed my password had changed. ' @ Bzone 24 all my passwords are pretty long and random.
@SockeyBoy That's how I found out mine was taken also. Since I check my email everyday, it was stolen literally 23 minutes after I checked my email on the day it happened. Luckly for me I buy point cards, and they tried to charge 4000 onto a non-existing card on my account, and thus they just left.
I'm assuming the younger users are getting scammed. If this is a big issue, I think MS should send some kind of notice to keep everybody aware or give tips to prevent it from happening. I know they just sent this press release, but it's not guaranteed that every XBL user will hear or read about it.
You can't possibily warn everyone of every dumb thing you could ever do. Example: don't run red lights, don't put hot coffee cups inbetween your legs and drive around, don't play your xbox while your baby is drowning in the tub, etc.
This blog says it's phishing, whilst every reputable news website says it was a hack. Wonder who to believe
