Geometry Wars has its origins in the unlikeliest of places: it was originally a minigame accessible from the garage in Bizarre Creations' Project Gotham Racing 2 for the Xbox console. The popularity of Geometry Wars as we know it today comes from an Xbox Live Arcade version of the game bearing the subtitle Retro Evolved. The simple, hypnotic shmup styled after games such as Robotron: 2084 and Smash TV has since been transformed for a number of platforms, with versions available for mobile phones, Windows PCs and once again in a Project Gotham Racing game, this one bearing the subtitle Waves. Nintendo is the latest to join the geometric warfare party with a just-arrived, expanded port of the game, entitled Geometry Wars: Galaxies, developed by Kuju Entertainment. UGO gives Geometry Wars Galaxies for the Nintendo Wii an overall rating of B.
