Surfer Girl promises BioShock 2: New team to work on it, people sick of Levine (rumor)

Surfer Girl, the mysterious prophet who has become the gamer's Oracle of choice, today shares with us gossip from 2K Boston concerning the development of BioShock 2. After pointing to a Gamasutra job posting that stated the BioShock creators were setting up a new studio in the Bay area, the Surfing woman of mystery delved deeper into the story behind this relocation:

2K Boston is still recovering - a good chunk of the BioShock team did not want to work with Ken ever again, and 2K definitely understood the sentiment and let them set up a new studio so that they can make Bioshock 2, leaving Ken with Project X. A good chunk of the other senior 2K Boston people who were sick of Ken but didn't move to San Francisco ended up scattering to other AAA developers instead. In Quincy, they're essentially rebuilding a team from almost scratch again.

Update:

This story has nothing to do with the PS3. It was on the original tip.

All the stuff you come up with can be figured from stuff already from the net. Huges companies do not send their secrets to a freakiung blogger.

People are sick of Levine??? Well, I'm sick of Surfer Girl... I'd rather be punched in the ass by Caligula than to read her trite garbage.

yeah didn't Levine single handedly save that game?...early reports of development had Bioshock a mess...poor art direction, no grip on what type of gameplay the game should focus on, etc...then Levine came on board...fixing it, and yes...taking most of the credit...

If by "sick of", they mean one man came in and pretty much rearranged the game to be in the top tier then...ok...I guess I can agree with that...

I could be wrong though...I didn't think Levine was involved with the game from the beginning...I thought he came in later on in development to organize things...

EDIT: I apologize then...I obviously read something wrong somewhere...thanks for the update...

Kleptic, Levine was on board from the begining. Bioshock is his creation, although the game passed through different concepts first, but those initial concepts were his too.

Levine is a founding member of 2K Boston, he came up with the story and design of Thief, and was project lead on System Shock 2. Bioshock's his baby. These people are just basically being childish. Every game studio that pumps out great games has a very demanding, autocratic designer at it's heart. Kojima, Miyamoto, Levine etc. are all very talented designers who have great visions for their projects, and are probably often stern and forceful when it comes to adhering to their design principles.

@Kleptic: if you mean saving as in "lets just remake System Shock 2 with better graphics, less depth and lets hope people wont notice" kind of saving?

then yes he did saved it >.>
