Exclusives are what defines a console. I wonder why some people say exclusives don't matter now but they weren't saying that in 2006 and 2007? And I wonder why some people say multi plats are better now but they weren't saying that in 2006 and 2007? And I wonder why multi plats didn't matter back when the PS3 has few exclusives but they mean the world now?

A lot of fanboys were like EXCLUSIIVEESS FTW when PS3 just came out and havent had time to build exclusive line up.

Now that PS3 dominates the exclusive line up, suddenly same fanboys say exclusives dont matter.

BTW, about one third of 90+ metascore games for PS3 are exclusives. So yea exclusives do matter a lot unless you bought gaming console for something other than gaming. Fanboys makes me laugh.

Exclusives DO NOT define a console. What defines a console is having the games you want to play. Exclusives are what sets one console apart from the other.

The defining moment is when you can see yourself enjoying the games that appeal to you as the consumer/gamer.

So the idea of this or that as being better or worse is purely subjective. We all place value differently on things in our lives. Even when it comes to entertainment value in our games.

Even if you're an XBOX fanboy, you have to admit that the PS3 has a good line up. PS3 is my console of choice, but I bought an XBOX for some exclusives and multiplat games, but I have to say, Gears 3 is the only game that's been occupying it's tray recently.

I hope MS spends some money on actual exclusives, and not timed DLC and crap like that.

Yeah the PS3 has definately had a much stronger line-up of exclusives but Forza 4 and GoW 3 are excellent games in their own right and can hold their own.

Multiplats this year, however might just steal the show because they have been great.

If Zelda is as good as reviewers are saying it is, then forget ALL the games this year, THAT is going to be king. Better than Ocarina of Time? That thought itself makes my tummy tingle.

Either way, I own all consoles except the Wii (which I gave to my cousins and am now KICKING myself for because of Zelda) and I can't handle all the amazing games that are out. I just don't have time.

Batman: Arkham City
Resistance 3

LET ALONE complete the 'old' games I haven't had the time to complete:

Prey (remember this anyone?!)
The Darkness
Bioshock 1 and 2 (yes shame on me)
Dead Space 1 and 2 (yes, again shame on me)
Lost Odyssey

I blame MP games like BF3, Mortal Kombat 9 etc. Once Twisted Metal comes out (another amazing PS3 exclusive), all other games will take a back seat once again.

Sales alone should not dictate this.
And as far as we know what floats the boat of one gamer another may hate.

So you CAN compare games "in class" like Gears of War vs Uncharted because they are third person shooters and they are action adventure games, but you cannot place Gears, Uncharted, Skyrim, Call of Duty, Battlefield 3, Need For Speed, L.A Noire, Dungeon Defenders and Zelda as competitors (for example) for GOTY.

That's bananas.

Xbox 360 fanboys started off this generation bashing the PlayStation 3 for not having any exclusive games and crying about how Halo 3 and Gears of War are the pinnacle of gaming and how Xbox LIVE was God's gift to the industry.

But when Sony started producing nothing but quality exclusives consisting of new and old IPs like Uncharted, inFamous, LittleBIGPlanet, Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank, and Killzone while steadily increasing the features and functionality of the PlayStation Network, (for free) Microsoft offered only early downloadable content for multiplatform games and virtually no exclusives to get excited over.

So now that the shoe was on the other foot, Xbox 360 fanboys boasted about how said multiplatform games ran a tiny bit better on the Xbox 360 due to the developmental complexity of the PlayStation 3 system architecture. But then multiplatform games began to not only run identical on both systems but better on PlayStation 3.

So now all Xbox 360 fanboys have left to talk about cross-game chat.

The way that I remember it, PS3 fanboys back in 2005 were calling the 360 Xbox 1.5 and making fun of the $400 price tag a FULL YEAR before their console even launched.

Then suddenly got a kick in the nuts when Sony said it would cost $600 and that there would be no rumble because rumble was last gen, and the games looked worse. Sony got what it deserved from '06-08 and so did their obnoxious fans.

Nw we have sad, butt hurt Sony fans claiming that the PS3 graphics look amazing when the thing is five years old, not looking much better than 360 despite all the hype, and is obviously way behind a low-mid gaming PC like ALL the consoles.

It's silly. PS3 fans are so eager to make fools of themselves that they now like to say that PS4 will be better than XBOX 720 when they have no idea what either of those machines will, cost, be like, or EVEN WHAT THEY WILL BE CALLED.

PS3 fans are like the gamecube fans of last gen. They try to make every exclusive sound incredible when most are meh and only a few are great. They try to make everything else sound awful. It's stupid.

I see why you only have one bubble. You must not remember all the articles from the media saying how the PS3 is dead, blu-ray is a fad.

The 360 cost just as much as a PS3 if you wanted a complete console. You remember the HD DVD add on and annual online fee. The PS3 continues to impress. The only reason we get mulitiplates that look same is because developers don't want to upset single console owners.

On topic of pc, the only console games to be compared to one is the PS3. Not to mention most of the 360 exclusives end up on the PC.

Sony exclusives outshine 360 exclusives graphically.

In Japan Ni No Kuni just release for the PS3, it will sell and push the PS3 sells up.
The PS3 is a beast.

The library of games? If all you had were exclusives, there's a few years' worth of playing time in them alone.

Downloadable games? See above.

Functionality? From surfing the internet to playing Blu-Rays and everything inbetween, it's got a dozen uses outside of gaming, which means its longevity is extended.

PS3 superiority? PS3 has ONE game that is head and shoulders above much of the competition. Uncharted has proven to be a fantastic franchise because of its writing and direction. It has far less to do with the PS3 and so much more to do with Naughty Dog and their ability to craft a fantastic game.

Beyond Uncharted 3 there is nothing on the PS3 that screams superiority... Resistance and Killzone are good but nothing great. I suppose you could make a case for LB2 but its a game that has little interest to me. Infamous 2 was again a solid game...but there are many that are better.

PS3's hardware is impressive no doubt...but it has its limitations and its starting to show its age too.

I am not taking anything away from those games. As I said before...they are all good games. But I think the games are good because of the developers not necessarily because of some superiority of the PS3. Sony has an excellent stable of developer and they make good games. I am not trying to argue that point.

Oh btw as for superiority ... PC trounces the PS3. Is that the route we need to take in all these threads?

(As a side note, Uncharted should be considered TWO games, not one, given that UC2 made the "superiority" argument before UC3 did.)

Even if all you do is say that the rest of the games were great- or good, as you put them- and not billed as superior, there are far more of them on the PS3, especially in recent years, than on the 360.

And, as Apocalypse noted, other games have been compared to PS3 exclusives this generation, in terms of story, graphics, gameplay, et cetera. When people compare PC and console graphics, it's almost invariably the PS3 that's compared to PC.

Yes, PC is superior. Only idiots even argue that point. The fact that you bring it up is tantamount to admitting that you, yourself, have nothing else you can argue. You can't bring the 360 into it in any way, shape, or fashion, so you go to the final bastion "PC beats PS3."

Hmmm, I've yet to see it proclaimed this years best game in the few reviews I read, but OK, let's assume you are correct, even without you supporting your position with a wide majority of references. IGN called it 'one of the best role-playing games yet produced', but didn't anoint it GoTY.

Who are these critics, do they hold Doctorates of Fine Game Critiquing from Harvard, that I should hold their opinion above all others? Hardly, I would say in my experience, judging by their writing prowess, the wide majority don't appear to hold a journalism degree, and likely haven't even take a community college level creative writing course.

The only awards I place any credence in are the AIAS awards. There games are chosen by peers, people in the game development business, and there's no more objective, or higher praise that one can get than to be noted as the best by people who do what you do.

I'm loving Skyrim and you appear to be too. That's great. My opinion is my own and requires no validation from the unwashed masses of the game critiquing community.

I was referring to the score on Metacritic, which can quite fairly be considered "the opinion of the wide majority of critics".

It's not a perfect way of judging but it's the best, most all-encompasing measurement we've got.

I respect the verdict of the AIAS too but don't conisder it the only one worth listening to by any means.
