A sample 4K image from a PS3

Crave: There've been previous reports that a PlayStation 3 can output ultra-high resolution 4K (4,096 x 2,160) still photos. We finally got to see some samples at the recent Sony VPL-VW1000ES media launch, which were breathtakingly detailed and faithfully rendered by this US$24,999 4K home theater projector.

what are they waiting for use it then. or keep it for next gen knowing what microsoft is like they will release their console early. i actualy dont mind the two different companys avoiding each other rather than to rival each other that way they can be more productive.

MisterAV2221d ago

because tv can output max 1080p?
because many games use all the power just to reach 720p?
maybe if you use ps1/ps2 graphics then you can have 4K.
But even then probably there are also issues with bandwidth in output. A still image doesn't have to sustain 30fps.

yeah i didnt think it through...but its nice knowing there is new tech to look foward to.

Screw the PS3, I want that projector!!

Screw that projector I'd rather buy that new scion frs. No projector should be more then 12 thousand.

PS4 will support games that output 4k as the default graphics resolution count on it!

P.S..4K is the minimal in the UHDTV resolutions class because that resolution class can reach 8K resolution...

I seriously doubt that. There are still plenty of people who watch and game on CRT TVs. The start of mass adoption of UHDTVs or QHDTVs is viable for the end of next gen consoles life cycles.
With more power and some smart antialiasing techniques, we will get awesome looking games on todays standard 1080p.

Also for those who can't afford to buy a 3D HDTV right now to play games & watch movies & view pictures in 3D here's your answer...

OF COURSE! Why didn't we think of this before? It seems so obvious now.
