Top 5 Shooters of 2011

Myniritori Says - "Through the years, the gaming industry has seen an astounding prevalence of the shooting genre. Something about getting a gun and shooting the brains out of everything and anything that moves makes people happy, and game developers have realized that. 2011 brought a slew of great shooters to the table, including such titles as Gears of War 3, Killzone 3, Crysis 2, etc. With so many new games being brought onto the market, it becomes difficult to decide which ones you want to add to your gaming arsenal. Luckily, you have people who can do that for you; your own personal source to tell you what the best shooters of 2011 are."

Killzone 3 is so much better than Homefront.

DonaldBeck2463d ago (Edited 2463d ago )

yeah killzone 3 was really really fun. and the graphics blew me away.

shooter actually referred to "space shooter". Since then that has had to give up the nomenclature for a new vague "shmup" title.

What happened to that genre?

Oh and on topic, KZ3 was a blast to play. Especially the "space shooter" level.

Though it was better in a few ways, Killzone 3 was a giant pile of meh for me. I really didnt enjoy it, and didnt even finish the campaign. Just kinda put it back on my shelf to collect dust....

Seriously, seems pretty wierd that he would put Homefront above Gears 3, Killzone 3, and Resistance 3.

@MoXxXi It didn't have quite the same presentation as Killzone 2 in my opinion, and the story was annoying, but I thought the level design and gameplay was excellent, and the multiplayer was great. To each to his own I suppose.

"Gears of War 3 (Most likely would have made the list if I had an Xbox and got a chance to play the game)"

As I said, Gears would have most likely made the list if I owned an Xbox and got a chance to play it. As for the other two, Killzone 3 wasn't great (And the multiplayer was shit when it first came out. Maybe if I went back and tried it again after patches it wouldn't be as horrible) and neither was Resistance. I thoroughly enjoyed Homefront. Wouldn't call it "weird" that its ordered this way. Different from your opinion, sure :P

You might be right about the multiplayer, I got the game a while after it had come out. And I saw that Gears thing and for some reason forgot when I came back to comment. I'll admit I haven't gotten too far into Resistance 3, but I have loved what I have played so far, multiplayer and single player. I love sci-fi shooters better than modern ones as a general rule, so I may be a little biased there. However, if you look at metacritic, you'll see that you're in the minority for thinking that Homefront is better, both in the critic's eyes and the user's eyes.

Edit: I guess so, when you get down to it, its just an opinion. =)

Oh trust me, I know im in the minority of thinking Homefront was that good of a game, but I was just taken a way by it. Of course, when it comes down to it this is a list of my top 5 shooters. Though Homefront did have its flaws, I do feel like it tried something different from most FPS games, and it worked to an extent.

As for Resistance, I agree that the Sci-Fi aspect of everything was kinda cool, it just wasn't my type of game for whatever reason.

I was referring to the (often) out of place article image.

Elwenil2463d ago

It's absolutely ridiculous how often that image gets used for Battlefield 3. Just a nice indicator for how low the quality of so called "gaming journalism" has sunk.

TheColbertinator2463d ago

I really liked Homefront,I thought the single player campaign was interesting especially the story. As for the multiplayer it was irritating dealing with so many snipers.

trenso12463d ago

Kz3 should replace home front but I prefer kz2 to 3 anyways.
