Activision announced today that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has shattered theatrical box office, book and video game sales records for five-day worldwide sell-through in dollars.
GJ guys... way to make crap like "COD ELITE" acceptable. They did it, it worked way too good and now all games with online will have it.
I think the majority of online games already have "cod elite." Its just a stat tracker.
COD Elite is free. You can pay for premium features if you choose to.
Yeah but it rarely works and the stats it tracks were available in Black Ops last year without having to exit the game to view them. Elite is rubbish!
COD Elite is a free stat tracking service. You can also make free high def videos of your gameplay and upload them to Youtube. The paid Elite is actually more like a Season Pass, which was out long before Activision released Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3. It's also completely optional. Who here didn't actually think MW3 was going to outdo the last COD game? They have been gaining in popularity like clockwork. Congrats to all involved, MW3 is definitely my favorite in the MW franchise. Sledgehammer should be proud.
Yup, congrats. Thats good support for the economy and the people who worked hard on this game. Its a win win no matter what the fanboys say. I guess they'd be happy if Activation went bankrupt, hundreds of employees laid off and EA made all the fps games from now on.
" I guess they'd be happy if Activation went bankrupt, hundreds of employees laid off and EA made all the fps games from now on." Who's saying that? They want them to do something different, not polish the same thing over in a different light.
considering tech wise battlefield shits all over cod I bet EA are not very happy about those figures.
WHY? No matter what COD does EA still got paid with BF3 and it's just the beginning for BF3 as the game will make money for the next 3 years with expansions. EA set out to sell 10 million units of BF3 and they have already shipped those 10 million and have sold over 5 million copies on the consoles. (don't have any PC numbers yet). So yeh COD made a ton of cash more than most Hollywood movies but EA still achieved their goal as BF3 has just about passed BC2 in sales in less than a month and BC2 is over 10 million lifetime. Now in the long run how many Activision games are you gonna by besides COD versus how many EA games you will buy?
I think people fail to remember that it is a lot more difficult for movies and music to make those kinds of numbers. They are both A LOT cheaper for consumers, one person would need to buy multiple movie tickets to reach the price of a game, and a crap load of music as well. Games are very expensive compared to other media, so a billion dollars for a game is a lot yea,but a billion dollars for a movie means even more people went to see it than bought the game.
Tech wise Battlefield 3 did what now? Last I checked Battlefield 3 was almost broken at launch and unplayable on consoles. I cant speak for PC because I could care less about gaming on PC or the people that freak out over PC gaming. Now MW3 looks beautiful, offers full, fluid 60fps, full party chat to your whole team, new weapons, perks, killstreaks, game modes and more. It's a stellar game from top to bottom. Just because it's not your thing doesn't mean it's not good. Why in the world would people support EA is beyond me, people complain about Activision here, but support EA? considering they release virtually the same sports games every year and we will probably see a annual Battlefield game as well now. Switching between Bad Company crap and straight up battlefield or maybe even Medal Of Honor mixed in. EA deserves to have lost and they lost royally, they talked so much smack and couldn't back it up. In the end, Battlefield 3 took ZERO away from the COD pie. GG EA/Dice/Battlefield. Edit* @BiggCMan The only thing wrong with gaming today is idiots like you that think they can speak for whats good and bad and that everyone should listen. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it bad kiddo. How many Battlefield games have there been? They have all pretty much been the same, how many FIFA games have there been? They have all pretty much been the same, yet Call Of Duty is the only game that garners hate. People like to hate on what's popular, I get that, but the level of idiocy that comes out of peoples mouths when they haven't even touched the game is comical to me. COD is a FPS, the most popular and most played. It wouldn't make sense to go in and change everything around to appease a few N4G idiots with too much time on their hands. Grow up.
Pass the blunt. But seriously, I was on ps3 on launch had no issues, it was the smoothest experience for me since r2. Mw3 on the other hand even now has conection issues. Why? Because they use the same buggy netcode... Open your eyes man, its the same Damn game. Shoddy campaign, and same mp . It's just wrapped with different perks and the title has a 3 now
In other news, Bobby Kotick was seen laughing all the way to the bank.
*CORRECTION* "Bobby Kotick was seen laughing at the First National Bank of Call Of Duty while printing more money". I can only cringe at the ATM Fees at The COD Bank! $60 surcharge!!!
I'll say it again...There's no way Activision is concerned with BF3.
And...*Goes back to playing BF3*.
Thought EA said they were gonna take CoD down. . .what happened? It went UP!!
And the PS3 version is still shit!! Come on IW, get your damn act together instead of counting your cash, fix this crap!!
Wow Battlefield 3 didnt even bitch slap CoD.I'm sorry but I'm shocked that a game that is released yearly can break records after records. Hopefully developers dont fall into tha CoD hype again and try too bring something new.But I have too say I wouldnt blame them if you can get that much money so fuking easy without changing anything.
Blame the ones with no brains i have friends who tell me to buy it but i'm not stupid enough to get what feels like an expansion for $60.
Call Of Duty is KING
I guess that's great and all. I dont know if it's just me, because I was really looking forward to MW3, but I feel that for the first time in the Treyarch and Infinity Ward saga of making games, that I have to say "Black Ops" was better. I mean, the hit detection in both games is almost a wash, but I had a lot more "fun" with Ops. I cannot put my finger on why though...
