Wiiloveit.com: X-Men Destiny - Wii Review

"Silicon Knights used to be what you'd call a top-tier developer back in the days of the Gamecube. They created Eternal Darkness with Nintendo, and they made the Gamecube title Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes as well, which were both critically acclaimed and well-received titles. Then they created Too Human for the PS3 and 360, which was plagued with mundane problems to the point of being near-unplayable. They're back again; this time with X-Men Destiny for the Wii, PS3, and 360. Guess which game it's closer to?" -- Wiiloveit.com (Wii, X-men: Destiny) 00/100

Haven't played it but 0 out of 30 seems a little harsh. Maybe 1 out of 30 for making on to the shelf...

LOL!
I can't remember the last time I've seen a game score a zero!
BinaryMind  +   984d ago
They should have just given it a -1. Then it would be easier to tell they were joking.

A zero is pretty harsh and unless a game is completely broken to the point of being unplayable for even 5 straight minutes, no game deserves such a score.

Assuming he is using the normal rating system, its overly harsh and a lot of people have spent time making the game, credit should be given to that.

its on the wii so its pretty possible it sucks that bad, wii has the worst games of almost any console ever.

not saying they dont have good games like zelda mario etc but when a game is bad on the wii, it for some reason is bad on a whole other level

0/30 just means that the reviewers scale is worthless. Destiny is somewhere between a 50 and a 70 depending on how you look at it. It's boring, easy, short, has old looking graphics and poor enemy variety and it still costs 60 bucks. That's "very disappointing to mediocre" territory not "this game doesn't actually work" territory.

Wow! Really? The game isn't that bad, just really generic. A 0 is ignoring everything they did right and focusing on everything they did wrong. Therefore this score isn't a credible representation of the game itself.

Looks to me like they did nothing right. So a zero seems like a fair score to me.

A zero is basically saying the game doesn't work and does nothing good. This site is obviously trying to get hits.

0?
The reviewer probably didn't even play the game, and rated the title based on its boxart, alone xD
Laxman  +   984d ago
But its box art was pretty cool for an X-Men game. It at least made the game look pretty good.

Based on other reviews, the game has been averaging around a 5 or 6 out of 10. That being said, giving a game a 0 (or even a 10 now days) is just an attempt to generate buzz for their web site.

Also, you guys should've discredited this review right away when they said Too Human came out on PS3

0 is ridiculous. 0 isn't on the scale, technically. The only way to score 0/X (technically) would be to not be a game at all and thus not be applicable to the review scale, ie. it cannot be rated as a game. This most certainly can be.

A 0? By the new score scales, it should be a 5.

And seriously, and in a new challenge, do we have a serious enemy for Superman 64 here? :D

Hey everyone, I'm Billy from Wiiloveit, and would just like to clear a couple of things up regarding this review.

I should make it clear that the rating was not a decision that was taken lightly. After the original review was completed, we took an internal review to decide whether or not such a score felt warranted. After much discussion, we decided to greenlight the review with a few edits to the content.

I would also like to note that this is absolutely not about superficially obtaining hits. We are a small site and take pride in our loyal readership, but our first and foremost priority is ensuring quality content, with detailed, useful discussion and information. Getting large page views for us is merely a bonus, not a necessity, and you'll notice that we have no advertising to benefit from other than to get our opinions out there for the Nintendo community.

We're a team of normal gamers that take pride in our website, which is run on a totally voluntary basis. We don't get paid, and we know how it feels to get a game based on inaccurate reviews and realise that said reviewer had no idea what they were talking about.

While it may seem that our rating in this case was rather extreme - which we'll admit, it was - we would appreciate it if you focus on the writing over the score. When it comes to scoring, everyone's bound to have slightly different opinions on exactly what each number represents, but in the end, we found no redeeming qualities in this game to warrant calling the game anything other than atrocious.

Whether or not you agree with our final decision is personal opinion, but the end result is invariably the same: the game is undeniably one of the worst games to grace the Wii, and we believe we've successfully conveyed that message.

For now, we'll continue to monitor your comments here and on our Twitter / contact options. We stand by our decision, but we do appreciate each of your thoughts.
