Randy Pitchford calls moaning developers "cry babies"

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at a recent Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway press event, Gearbox Software president and CEO Randy Pitchford has defended the Unreal Engine 3 against recent criticism.

"We love Unreal Engine. It's an outstanding piece of technology. Where we've used it as it's come, it's been solid and secure for us. It's great multiplatform technology, so we can run on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC."

"I've seen some of the stuff on the internet about the problems and I don't know if these developers are maybe new, or not used to using other people's technology or if they've gotten too many inexperienced developers or they're just cry-babies. I just don't know," said Pitchford.

Pitches a fit about developing for any game engine or platform for that matter is a cry baby and should rethink their position in the industry. If it's too hard then they are not in it for the art of it and more for the money and in some cases, that's not even all that great. Devs like Infinity Ward, Epic and Naughty Dog poor their hearts into a project regardless and they succeed where so many others fail.

i think what zonetrooper said is whats wrong, its not easy goin from 1 engine to another

Using different engines can be hard work, no doubt about that. Using Bungie's inhouse engine to Epics Unreal engine will be very different I imagine.

I do think that devs who do moan, should just be quiet and concenerate on the work at hand. If the engine is not that great, then bin it and start on your own engine or get another third party engine.

...what the hell happened to Brothers In Arms: Hell Highway? This game didn't just fall off the radar, it fell off the freaking cliff and never got up. The vids and trailer do look great, I just hope they can pull it off.
