So they might make Final Fantasy XV a full-fledged action RPG. Well, that makes sense, as they've been ignoring their loyal fans for an entire generation.
S-E knows best/s
Dude whatever. Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Kingdom Hearts are Action RPG's and they are some of the best games to come out of Square since Final Fantasy X.
Agreed. Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 are action RPGS done right. FFvs13 is looking like it will be good also and that's mainly because it's being made by the person that made KH. I personally think that turn based combat is a little outdated.
Turn based requires more thinking that button mashers.
Ffxiii vs is not even out....
That picture is hilarious. On topic, I really have no interest in what Square does anymore. There was a time when I'd blindly buy any game they released now my PS3 collection doesn't have one single SE game in it. And that's not going to change anytime soon.
Someone needs to make a S/E version of this:
Let's just hope they don't merge with Capcom next....
More hate. Just because you're all stuck in 1997, you seem to think it's perfectly okay if JRPGS in general and Square-Enix more specifically play the same way they did 20 years ago. Grow up and get real.
Didn't know growing up requires you to pay full price for an incomplete game (Final Fantasy XIII-2). But obviously you forgot what brought you into JRPG's in the first place or maybe FF XIII was the first you purchased and if the latter is the case you have my condolences.
What brought me into FF and JRPGS was the story. I've played a lot more than just FF over the years, and no matter what the gameplay was like, it was the stories that made JRPGS my favorite genre. I don't care if it's action or turn-based or what. So long as the story told is engaging, and the gameplay isn't broken. Nearly every complaint about XIII was because it isn't like its predecessors. And I'll agree that it doesn't have a whole lot in common with them, other than the title. But the world I was introduced to was just as fleshed out and fully realized as any world in any other FF, and the story told within that word was just as solid, if not more, in some cases. All the people complaining about XIII-2 are doing so with little to no basis on anything, except that it boasts a battle system they don't care for. Yet it IS the sequel (a forced sequel, in the sense that this is all content XIII should have contained in the first place) to a game which already had that battle system. That aside, any and all other complaints have been addressed, and yet people STILL want to complain.
Destroying the entire formula for the sake of fixing what wasn't broken will bring on the well deserved hate. If I wanted an action RPG I wouldn't be playing a FF game. Square has lost touch with their fanbase ever since the PS1 era has wrapped up. For example, imagine your favorite franchise of whatever genre turned into a lousy generic uninspired first/third person shooter, would you say the same thing, like grow up and get real? Really?
You sir have, what I call, "newness goggles" on which is the exact opposite of nostalgia goggles. Just because something is new doesn't automatically make it better. You're the kind of person who would blindly defend a Pentium 4 over any Core2Duo or Core i7 CPU that is derived from the older Pentium II architecture simply because it's "newer." You also have bad taste for liking FFXIII.
