The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Does It Hold Up?

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is one of the most beloved games in the series' history. GameZone's David Sanchez looks back on his fond memories with the game as the launch of Skyward Sword draws near. (Retro, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Wii)

I wasn't extremely fond of the Dark World/Light World match-ups, but at some point I'd like to give the game another chance.

Without a doubt its in the top 2 zelda games of all time, and the darkworld/lightworld was one of my favorite parts of the game.

This was the first game that I bought, after taking my rented copy back.

This game IMO is what "the golden age" of gaming was all about.

You would be incorrect, WombBat.

Does it hold up? Yes. Many (including me) call it their favourite Zelda game.

Personally, no other Zelda compares :)

This and Minish Cap are my favorites.

I love it. Played it again just recently and yes it still holds up and is fun. It doesn't feel as epic as ocarina of time however, which is my favorite.

LttP is probably the most approachable 2D Zelda game, due to the format it ushered in for 3D titles. It was ahead of it's time.

No.

Even though the game isn't technically as epic as later entries in the series, I still remember getting this grand 16-bit vibe from it, and I actually played it for the first time AFTER I played Twilight Princess.

for anyone who enjoyed link to the past i really urge you all to try the minish cap if you all haven't already .its pure 2d zelda goodness . OOT sadly isn't doing it for me . i bought a 3ds for it but sadly i have given up on it . maybe i will give it another chance but i'd rather play through the minish cap than anything . maybe im just oldschool
