Bethesda: Skyrim's Texture Scaling on 360

Bethesda: Skyrim uses a lot of dynamic streaming systems, including textures. We’ve seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up. We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disk and when the game is fully cached (not installed). Skyrim makes heavy use of the Xbox 360 caching system, and caches over the normal course of play while in menus or interiors. This cache can be wiped when other games are played or when the user manually removes it. We’re working on a solution in the next title update for those who have installed the game. (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Xbox 360)

Heck if I have played a game on my 360 without installing it for... years.

I guess if you got a 4GB, that's you're only option though.

I install all games out of habit if nothing else. Looks like i wont be installing this one.

I installed it, and the difference is slightly noticeable. However, I prefer the texture issues to the extra 15 seconds the game takes while loading if it isn't installed.

You'd think that Bethesda would learn to properly Q&A their games by now, which isn't to take away from this release one bit. They're lucky that their games are so well crafted in other areas but they tend to be a bit buggy upon release which is a shame really.

Well at least they said they are going to fix it. A bit of a nuisance for 360 owners who install the game though guess they will just have to deal with the disk for the time being.

To be honest with you posters at N4G i am actually surprised that they let a bug like this happen. The bug is so obvious that they must have detected it during the testing process. I guess that since they didn't want to delay the game they decided to release it without fixing the bug first.
