GOTY: Skyrim vs. Uncharted 3 review scores

If there were two games deserving the award for “Game of the Year”, it would have to be Uncharted 3 and Skyrim. You can get an idea on the best candidate for GOTY from Skyrim and Uncharted 3 review scores, which thanks to Skyrim reviews releasing today, we now get a clearer view.

There's plenty of titles more worthy of GOTY awards than Uncharted 3 this year.

Namely Batman, Portal 2, and most likely Skyrim (even though it's not out yet, reviews are pointing to an amazing game)

You shouldn't just go by review scores if you've actually played it and know the story.

On another note, Gears 3 was bumped off the GOTY nominees and replaced with Portal 2.
I might just vote for Portal 2 to piss of the fanboys. It'll be hilarious if it wins.
It's an awesome game, so it'd be deserving of the award as well :)

How long it's taken for it to come out dosen't = quality. Although I'm not saying Skyrim is lacking it, it looks amazing

Although you have to admit it seems like ND worked their arses off on U3 as much as Bethesda did on Skyrim....I actually think ND did more because they had to do all the motion cap acting before they start deveoping the full game.

I swear to go people are hyping uncharted 3 up the a** that I'm beginning to get tired of the game. It's over hyped just because its the sequal to among thieves. I love naughty dog but when ppl are over hyping a game the game tends to be the victim in a long run. If this continues Uncharted 3 will be the most over hyped game this year which isnt a good thing. This year GOTY comes down to Batman and skyrim. This is coming from a Sony and uncharted "fanboy". Why lie to myself and pretend that uncharted 3 will win when I know it ain't happened.

Really? So GT5 deserved to get game of the year because of the 5 years work put into its development. Come on man.

Anyway unfortunately for this article the GOTY awards don't go to the highest metacritic. The metacritic is a reflection of 100 or so reviewers average scores but Goty awards like the Spikes VGAs are chosen by the people so I'm guessing Batman is going to be the winner over all.

Why always comparing with Uncharted 3 ?

Gears of war 3 was also deserving the GOTY title, Forza 4 too, Batman also deserved that title, isn't it ?

Does it mean xbox exclusives are considered as inferiors potential GOTY by journalists, or does it mean that journalists just love to put PS3 games in their GOTY lists and potentially use those list against games that had only few reviews since launch ? Like Skyrim have for example...

Everybody in the US is praising Xbox 360, where are then all those exclusives, all those flash games (some are really overated BTW) on the XBLA that were meant to be the GOTY. Those games with those huge amount of preorders, those games that surely were better than GT5 ? Just wondering... Why no comparison between Skyrim and an Xbox exclusive ?

Are they just hyped games that nobody talk about two weeks after their release ?

Unfortunately....not one 360 exclusive made it on the voting list to be picked GOTY.

That's why your seeing Uncharted 3 vs other games picked for GOTY. Uncharted 3 is picked because U2 won a crap load of awards in 2009 and U3 has managed to outdo U2 in terms of quality

considering how many xbox exclusives there were this year I am not surprised. And I say that as a 360 fan. MS need to invest in more exclusives, but I don't think they will.

Having said that in my opinion Uncharted is a bit overrated. I say that as a ps3 owner. I bought and still own the first one which I played but didn't finish. Uncharted was great but it still didn't blow my socks off.

Uncharted 3, my brother got a free copy of it and sold it without even sticking it in the ps3. I wish I could say I was hyped for it but I just don't care for it right now.

It will, it simply covers a broader scope and advances much more over its predecessor than U3.

It also helps that the game is on 3 platforms instead of one, thus allowing it to reach a broader audience and form a greater consensus.

Zelda will most certainly be in the discussion as well. Skyrim, UC3, and SS will be the top 3 contenders. Lol, look at that lineup. This will go down as one of the best years of gaming.

So many games are deserving of a goty award this year, its awesome. My favs have been Dark Souls , Arkham City and UC3. I know Skyrim will join that list and if I played the Wii Skyward Sword as well. We have come a long way since space invaders and pitfall....great time to be a gamer, so stop bickering over a pointless award which is just an opinion anyways
