While many video game characters demonstrate some form of growth and change, Duke Nukem seems stuck in the past.
I actually think Gearbox missed a big opportunity with Duke's character in Duke Nukem Forever. I like the idea of Duke still being a macho, over-the-top 80s action hero...but I think it would have been funny if the game had acknowledged that he was an 80s action hero in a 21st Century world. It would have been funny seeing Duke parade around, puffing up his chest and spouting old 80s movie quotes, and having everyone else around him thinking, "WTF? Who does this guy think he is? Arnold Schwarzenegger?"
