Unsuprinsingly, Modern Warfare 3 serves us with a recipe that's still efficient but is starting to show its limits.
Of course, Activision's newest once again nails the core expertience with a most explosive campaign plus an accessible, well rounded and intelligently tweaked multiplayer. But it will be hard to come close to the excellence of its forebears when the feel of staleness is so present.
Bogged down, which doesn't help things, by dated pruduction values, unabashedly pulling the same strings again and again, Modern Warfare 3 should nonetheless conquer the audience for another year. But let's say it, we are clearly witnessing the end of an era.
