Call of Duty: Black Ops has moved 20 million map packs to date

Joystiq: "all of Duty: Black Ops has sold 20 million map packs to date. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg noted the latest figure during yesterday's conference call, where the publisher announced strong revenues for the quarter.

Activision announced 18 million Black Ops map packs were sold back in September, before the final sales push of the Rezurrection pack completed."

The story is too old to be commented.

But out of those 20 million how many were not bought hence game sharing on psn??

So in other words it hasn't sold that many that's just how many times it's been downloaded.

fluffydelusions2415d ago

Heh, good point. I bet Acti hates Sony for that feature lol.

The article says "sold" not "downloaded". All 20 million are sales. Downloads would be higher.

Well considering Activision is a gold digger in love with Microsoft's wallet, I don't see how it would of made that big of a difference anyways. "Most" of their sales are from Xbox.

20 Million units, if only more companies could do this then we wouldn't need the crappy online passes.

If more companies did this we would see more rehashed games with less improvements year after year. Then DLC being pumped out overpriced to milk the people who buy the game even more.

***But out of those 20 million how many were not bought hence game sharing on psn??***

From the article:

"Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold 20 million map packs to date."

Note, the keyword "SOLD". That means it excludes game sharing on PSN, because that would not count as "SOLD".

Reading comprehension helps... maybe read slower?

It says "sold"

But I didn't know you can share games on psn! How does that work?

Majin-vegeta2415d ago

You just basically give your email and password to the other perosn and they create a new account and then they can download anything you've bought vice versa. But i only recommend doing it if you trust the other person.

GraveLord2415d ago

No, they count amount of purchases not downloads.

The god old days of cod1 where people were making their own map packs with tools released by devs.

phinch2415d ago

i didnt buy any this time round, not sure why just didnt feel as addicted to black ops as i did to mw2

Cenobia2415d ago (Edited 2415d ago )

IMO Blops was miles better than MW2. MW2 felt extremely cheap and kill streaks happened every 10 seconds. They over did it with all the extra crap they threw in and it was out of control.

Blops had better balance and features like Split Screen multiplayer, which was awesome. I haven't played MW3, but I honestly haven't been too excited for it because I'm pretty sure it's going to be a lot more like MW2's uncontrolled chaos.

That being said, I did buy a Blops map pack and didn't really like any of the maps. I wish they would just release the best maps from the previous games as a free pack (preorder bonus?). I loved some of MW1's maps.

I got the resurrection map pack thinking it was map packs for the multiplayer, instead it was that zombie part of the game. I couldn't get into it so I was disappointed on top of not being able to return it.

I havnt played a cod mp game since cod 2. I must say I dont know what all the hate is about, if you can except cod for what it is, it's fun. I'm looking forward to mw3 on Friday.
