Feed Your Console Review – Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

FYC says

Just a quick note to say that I have not yet finished the game and have only managed to get in about 30hrs of gameplay. I know I’ll get alot of haters on this but seriously, the game really is that freaking big.

Oblivion burst onto consoles in the Spring of 2006. I remember being so amazed by the images I saw online and the intense hunger for a good long RPG, that I rushed out to pick up Oblivion the day it hit shelves. I was both impressed and unhappy at the same time. The Environments looked incredible but the characters all looked spectacularly brutal. I swear each character was only 2 generations removed from Apes walking upright. The gameplay itself was an RPG using a First Person Shooter Perspective which I found to be a little cumbersome, I was always getting lost and every single town I entered wanted me dead or to toss me in jail due to my own ignorance. The sheer size of the game also soured me on the whole experience because it was new and I had never before seen anything so big in a game….but after playing through Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I’m a new man and an old pro at exploring vast worlds… (PC, PS3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Xbox 360) 9/10

Decent review. No Co-op isn't a big problem. Though if Bethesda could implement it without taking from the quality of the Single Player at all, then sure.
Crazay  +   1332d ago
Agreed - a game this size would be incredibly fun with one other person. I don't consider it to be a huge issue, just one that I'd like to see fixed in the future.

Did this guy just take a point off of Todd Howard's game because there is no co-op?!?! THIS IS MADNESS! YOUR SOLE SHALL BURN IN HELL!!!

his shoes are going to burn in hell?

XD..it's kinda hilarious though. I would like Co op but I really don't expect it from ES, it would take away from the immersion too. I can't believe it got marked down for not having it though. I suppose though...most other RPG's are bringing it in too...like em...em............
Laxman  +   1331d ago
Im not sure Co-op would work too well with how story driven this game is. If it was linear, or more focused on combat, then yeah it could work really well, but being so open and so driven by individual choice, I dont think it would go down very well.

bahaha, I just realized my spelling mistake lololol... sorry, I can't think, All the boner blood due to skyrim is taking away from my brain blood lolol

da_2pacalypse comment made me want to wish for a game called "Demon's soles".
You will be playing Al Bundy in that game.

As for the review itself: probably the lousiest piece of writing I've seen in a while. It basically tells you nothing about the game that you didn't already know, and the fact that the writer accomplished about a fraction of the game makes the review quite pointless in the first place. Why the rush to review a game if you can't even bother to finish it first?

Well, you shouldn't be in a hurry to rush out the review with any game. Finish the game and then review the game.

Especially since the embargo for the reviews doesn't lift until tomorrow morning.

This isn't a freaking review.

30 hours of reviewing for a game which is said to last for a good 300 hours hardly tells anything about the game. Still the 9/10 review suggests that its epic
jony_dols  +   1331d ago
Not all of the 300 hours is spent fighting dragons & storming castles. That includes all the mundane missions such as picking flowers, mining ore & acting as a courier.

I think 30 hours of gameplay would give you a decent enough idea of what the game is actually like.
Crazay  +   1331d ago
I've been doing alot of the side quests and missions in order to level up as best as I can. I know the fit is going to hit the shan and I want to be as prepared for it as possible. That includes having better proficiencies and amazing weapons and armor.
SactoGamer  +   1331d ago
Broke embargo. Please remove before Bethesda finds out.

Co-op in a game like this is like having co-op in fatal frame, it's implementation would ruin the immersion.
jmac53  +   1331d ago
Regardless if these guy gave it a 5/10 or a 10/10, this review means nothing to me. He only played 30 hours of it and admitted he has only scratched the surface, so how can he fully review it. Plus no coop! How is that a fault. Bioshock didn't have it and no one complained.
jony_dols  +   1331d ago
Plenty of 'reputable' sites such as IGN reviewed Gran Turismo 5 without actually completing it, and marked it down for features, that unbeknownst to them, they hadn't played long enough to unlock.
SAE  +   1331d ago
they don't even know how to play gt5 , that's why i don't trust them anymore .. they only mention the bad stuff and compare it to forza 3 which is not a sim..

skyrim is a must buy game now , i have to sell few games to buy it , no money T_T

I actually really disliked Bioshock. I never said that it was a "fault" so much as it's a nice to have.
torgo  +   1331d ago
You know that embargo doesn't lift until the 10th right?
Laxman  +   1331d ago
Its the tenth in some places.
RIPSKATEDESTROY  +   1331d ago
haha somebody disagreed...
MoreRPG  +   1331d ago
he should've given the game 10/10 because the game doesn't need a co-op mode

I play Skyrim because i don't want anyo9ne to share my experence everyone will do something different in a new way. Just like Daggerfall Morrowwind and Oblivion before it.

Why share an epic story you get to write yourself as you progress f**k that.

ElderScrolls is a fantasy world made for one person do what you will with you time there for when the end comes you will be baited at the breath waiting for the next installment.

What a shitty review. And he hasn't even completed the game yet...
kcuthbertson  +   1331d ago
No reviews would be out by now if every reviewer had completed this game...
vikingland1  +   1331d ago
Another review that knocks points off for something it dosen't have nor was ever intended to have.
Rowland  +   1331d ago
how can you give 9/10 when you've only played a fraction of the game ? Ridiculous.
kcuthbertson  +   1331d ago
I don't think it should be docked for not having co-op...but I think it would be cool.

Just like a companion type co-op...they have no control over anything, they just follow the main character around and help stomp baddies.

GOTY this series deserves it period.
