I know that most people don't like actually caring enough to do something, but this is one of those bills that is literally so evil that you have to do something about it.

It empowers companies to take down entire sites for doing things like showing videos using background music, all that stuff that fair use was supposed to protect. Like GiantBombs playthrough vids? Gone. Video Walkthroughs on youtube for Achivement runs? Gone.

Take 10 minutes out of your day and direct your fanboy rage towards something we can all agree sucks ass, and write to your congressperson.

This sounds so insane, how can it ever be properly monitored when you consider the sheer volume of people who have access to and distribute gameplay videos?

Music and movies are distributed freely and the government can't even control that properly.

It just sounds so insanely farfetched, I cannot fathom it ever being mandated.

Shouldn't this be some sort of choice of the publisher anyway? What if a publisher doesn't give a flying s*it? I know of some devs who are opposed to it, I recall namely someone from Insomniac criticizing it, why the hell would the approve such a thing?

um more control. they love it.

This isn't a law that's being passed on the behest of all devs. Some of them may want to use the law, others may not.

But if this passes, I guarantee the next time someone tries to put up a glitch video for MW4 or something, that video's gonna cease to exist.

this bill is so bullshit. So what if people put footage up of Cod or any other game? Not like anyone's making millions of dollars off of it. Some copyright laws are just becoming downright outrageous. Hell what happens to the games that have video up-loaders built into them? Ie. Just Cause 2, Uncharted etc

This bill can go suck my @#$!.

I would recommend opposing this bill and contacting your representatives. There is a link on the page in order to do this and the process is very simple and straightforward.

Where this generation is heading I'm not a bit surprised. I remember hearing a few months back from EventStatus on Youtube that the companies were trying to put a bill along these lines in but after the inactivity for a while I thought it didn't pull through.
