IGN: Modern Warfare 3 Review

People love to hate it, but the Call of Duty franchise is successful for a reason. No other first-person shooter has the same flair for visual spectacle in its singleplayer campaign, and few can match its utterly addictive multiplayer. While Call of Duty games have become formulaic at this point, as evidenced by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's muddled narrative and at times frustrating design, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have refined and polished the Modern Warfare experience to produce the best of the series with the third installment.

I expected this. If IGN would have given this a below 9, COD fanboys would have committed suicide, vice versa if it had got above 9, BF fanboys would have committed suicide. I think it deserves something like 8 or 8.5, but that's just my opinion.

Hold up guys, before anyone gets too excited, do bear in mind the score they gave Black Ops and what an awful mess that turned out to be.

We all knew it was going to get a score in the 9's minimum especially considering the hype they kept churning out for this game. The real reviewers are the players. Their judgment isn't swayed by the $.

"the real reviewers are the players"

and given that they sold 9 million on pre-orders alone, seems they've voted in favour of CoD.

@ Cosmo811

"and given that they sold 9 million on pre-orders alone, seems they've voted in favour of CoD. "

Not really. How can they review a game simply by pre-ordering it?

I'm taking about gamers reviewing the game after playing it.

I'm not a huge Call of Duty fan but I can understand why people love it. Because it has a formula that works. Why change something that so many people love? Would you like it if they drastically changed Halo, Gears, Uncharted, Killzone, or God of War?

As you can see MW3 is awesome, whenever you guys are done crying come join us in a few rounds of kill confirmed.

i really don't think it matters, the millions of people that buy CoD don't even know that there is a fanboy war between BF3 and CoD nor would they be up in arms if the reviews were giving the game 7's or 8's. The game appeals to the teenage/college crowd and those that don't follow online sites and forums base their purchase on what their friends do and say about the game

mendicant2385d ago (Edited 2385d ago )

Or they buy the game because they think it's f#@kin fun and don't care what a bunch of dumbass fanboys think.

Gamers today suck.

Led-Zeppelin2385d ago

Oh yes I'm sure 30 million people buy COD just because their friends are playing it. Grow up kid, I've seen just as much people 30+ years play COD as much as teenagers play. Go back into your cave, right now millions of people are playing a game they enjoy, while your on N4G trolling people with false stereotypes.

MintBerryCrunch2385d ago

lol 30 million

and mendicant, that's the point i was trying to get across, they don't care what online sites say about the game rather if their friends will get it so they can all play together since its very easy to jump into MP

most of my friends will get both BF3 and MW3 just because both games look fun and entertaining to them

I find it annoying how Call of Duty always gets a pass for recycling shit and rinse and repeating the same shit every year...but any other game does that and they will get blasted for it.
