VGW: Before Halo: Combat Evolved paved the way for successful first-person-shooters on modern consoles, Rare’s influential 1997 release, Goldeneye 007, for the N64, made the console FPS a viable genre. When Activision released the 2010 reimagining of Goldeneye for the Nintendo Wii, it gained positive critical reviews and remains one of the platform’s strongest shooters. So it made sense that Activision would capitalize on its success by giving the game a makeover for HD consoles in 2011.
But quite a disparity exists between shooters on the Wii and those on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Does Goldeneye 007: Reloaded offer enough to FPS fans to warrant a purchase, especially when its release date is sandwiched between two giants like Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3?
