DCUO Subscriptions Were Around 30k Before Going F2P

As many as 120,000 people have signalled their interest to download DC Universe Online in just two days, following a decision to make the game free. But by admitting to these numbers, did they tip their hand as to their previous subscription levels?

It's not $5 a month. Make a single purchase of $5 or more and get Premium access for life. $15 a month get you everything the game has to offer (DLC, etc.)

Lol this is what I call an prototype game.Look at how many copies was sold BEFORE DCUO became F2P.I bet those people will return because I think more then 30k copies sold for this game.

Also DCUO 2 will be F2P on release date.Can't wait too see what other F2P games Sony have developing atm.

DCUO is unplayable right now due to over population lag, login queues and infinite loading screen after you have waited on the queue.

Just forget this game...

dude you full of it. If you have been with the game since launch like I have...I was there during beta as well then you would have had to deal with much worse. So either your lying and just hating on the game or your going to keep playing because at the end of the day SOE always fixes the issues it just might take a couple of weeks to iron it out...so grow up and be patient!

I played on PS3 the past two nights and the biggest gripe is the login ques which was 3000 ppl and was a ten minute wait.

I find it funny that you cancelled right when it went f2p....

For new ppl its a really fun game, and for free you cant go wrong.

I bought this game on release and have been very happy with it. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough players at times. This was a very smart move by SOE to add new life to the game.

I like how they say they didn't switch to F2P due to low subscription numbers ... I can smell the BS all the way over here!! Of course they switched due to the low number of subscribers, if they were making tons of cash and numbers were increasing regularly then they'd be insane to switch to F2P

I'm also one of those people who saw they game and really wanted to play it, but yet another game demanding a subscription fee put me off. I knew from the start the game would eventually fail and disappear or go F2P. What else can you expect when you create a niche game in a niche genre.

I'm one of those new players and the F2P model is already working its magic on me. I've already hit the $1500 gold limit and already have 2 characters I've created and tried out, one PVP and one PVE, and I can honestly say I will either be buying the Green Lantern DLC to upgrade to premium, or just flat out go Legendary. A lot more fun than I thought it would be.

The overpopulation and the transition to F2P has created a lot of chaos, but they are working on it. I played today after a long time and had a lot of fun.

I hope they get it fixed soon before I lose interest in it. I've been waiting to check out the DC Universe since release but I heard each Disc was system locked to 1 PS3 and after you've activated your account the disc was no good, is that true?

The problem with this game is not that you had to pay, its that it has no content. It has less content than a single player RPG game. You can reach lvl 30 in 1-3 days if you know what you doing. Then after all you do is the same instances over and over and raid every week. Game gets very repetitive after a month. The only people who keep playing are the people who enjoy the pvp which also becomes repetitive playing the exact same people all the time. I played this game at launch and did everything the had to offer the 1st month, cleared all raids available at that time.

I was a ps3 user before dcuo went f2p, now I have a really good gaming pc so ive been playing on it. But after experiencing all the population problems on the ps3s servers before....with this massive player increase, I cant imagine their servers being stable at all.

This is a classic example of a writer not understanding how to comprehend data that he is presented. This is in response to the news that the game has grown to Over 120k PC registrations in 2 days for DCUO PC. 4x concurrent increase.

120k users and 4x concurrent user increase are two entirely separate statements. This article acts as if 120k users would make the 400% increase of total users only 30k before. However, concurrent users merely means the number of users who are online at one single point. So A game could have 100k users but only 10k of them are on at concurrently. Thus a 400% increase of concurrent users would in have no bearing on how many total users a game has.

Failing Reading Comprehension 101 isn't a good starting background place to decide to try to write a incorrect statement in order to put an incorrect spin on numbers.
