11% of gamers have never heard of the Super Mario Bros. series

11%? 11% of gamers are unaware of the multi-million selling, decades old, ultra-famous Super Mario franchise? That’s over one in ten, as I’m sure all you lovely people were quick to realise. That can’t be true… right? This info comes from some analyst nobody’s ever heard of trying to make a name for themselves, correct? Nope. This figure in fact comes from the results of a survey conducted by highly respected industry magazine MCV.

Yes, the 10 year old Kids getting COD from their parents to shut them up.

I was thinking this was more along the lines of pretty much non-gamers who play some games on facebook or phones only. But it probably could also be some little kids who only played on playstation 3/Xbox 360 like you say.

But who knows, Mario is not as popular as he was when I was younger. He used to have his own Cartoons for kids, and sonic did too.

I doubt that many of these people who didnt know this would even call gaming one of their hobbies. Gamer can include people who play only angy birds and farmville now a days too. I dont think those people are "gamers" but just people who barley play videogames.

Kinda like how me throwing a football with a friend doesnt make me a football player.

Hell yea I remember watching the Mario and Sonic cartoons...my buddy has the Mario ones on dvd and we still watch them occasionally.

It most likely is the CoD kids and the Facebook/Mobile gamers that haven't heard of Mario because I mean you can't really go into a gamestop and not see something to do with Mario in the Wii section.

Good analogy, Solidus187-SCMilk.

n4gisatroll2233d ago

So did donkey kong, and zelda Haha. Back when I loved Nintendo. But I agree with what you say. The kids now a days have wiis and they know what a mii is but not Mario. Or they have an xbox and play cod or halo.

My kids love mario. I wounder if this survey was done online? If so there easily could be some who don't take it seriously and just say no they haven't heard of Mario.

It was in the description. I skipped it, too, because it's gibberish a lot of the time.

"Too big, too strong, too fast, too good!"

Boy, am I going to miss the Bulls playing this season. I've rewatched all of their winning games multiple times while waiting for this season to come around, now there's nothing to be watched.

Biggest2233d ago

NBATV has been running the '93 playoffs and other classic games for the past few weeks. It's basically the "BULLS WIN!!" channel right now.

Highlife2233d ago

Comcastsportsnet in Chicago is replaying some of the classic bulls games from the time Jordan arrived through the 6 championships. Watched some of the game with my son to show him just how good Jordan was. He had a will to win like to other!

Give me the HOT SAUCE!!

I know im gonna get disagree`s but Angerfist you are talking rubbish. Why is there never a page where Call of duty ISNT mentioned and criticised? Not everyone who plays call of duty is some moron, its a fun game that gets too much hate just because its popular.

Pikajew2234d ago

I wouldn't classify them as gamers.

Ezio20482234d ago (Edited 2234d ago )

atleast they have heard "Mario"...

be grateful!

Me-Time2233d ago (Edited 2233d ago )

I was thinking about something like this. I'm surprised, but at the same time I'm not surprised.
