Parents Take Note: Violent FPS War Games Causing PTSD in Teens (Humor)

Post-traumatic stress disorder, once a poorly understood and little-known mental health problem, is turning up on the public's radar a lot more as growing numbers of video game players seek treatment for the illness.

Reports show that approximately four out of ten teenagers who identify themselves as fitting the video game industry’s description of a “First Person Shooter Gamer” have returned from Call of Duty gaming deployments with symptoms of the disorder. The “Mothers Offended by Frequently-gaming Online” (MOFO’s) considers this a very disturbing notion in view of the sheer numbers of young people who play and enjoy these types of games.

I am still clueless how. Lots of unanswered questions here. How many teenagers asked? What age were these teenagers?

"I kept getting phone calls from teachers saying he was mumbling the phrase 'spy plane inbound' while pointing at the airplanes." Like what? This kid seems against the norm and probably predisposed and this break was going to happen eventually

"2: you could realize that this article- all of the research and people included- is completely false and based on no scientific evidence whatsoever... and then you could start actually being a parent and deal with some real issues that affect your child."

It was a fake article. But it is saying to be involved with what you're kids play. It's rediculous to think that teenagers feel fear while playing shooters, there is no real danger.

Edit: Oh, and by the way, look up mofos on google and see what pops up. :P

While I agree that PTS is very much among us, I'm not sure video games are entirely to blame, most types of media usually have mediums within them designed to cause stress, that's pretty much how physcological thrillers come about. Its simply part of entertainment fuelled lives so many of us have become used to. A person simply 'raging' may be a sign, but you can also argue that that would mean basic human behaviour is geared towards PTS to begin with. All in all, I think this is parents overly stressing and putting the finger on someone else.

That said, excellent article Johnny! I'm sure this will spark many questions amongst your readers :) thoroughly enjoyed reading :)

I figure a lot of people are gonna miss that little part there. That's why I put up my first comment, hoping people would see it and read the whole thing.
