Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review - Alternative Magazine Online

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is the quintessential PlayStation 3 game. It has it all: breathtaking graphics, glorious sound, stereoscopic 3D (if you have a TV that supports it), and rock solid gameplay that makes you feel like you are Nathan Drake. What’s more, it has real heart. There are some slight niggles but ultimately, lessons have been learnt: there are no annoying boss battles to be found and endlessly spawning enemies are ancient history. Naughty Dog have perfected the Uncharted formula with Drake’s Deception – the characters are so likeable and real that the player’s emotional investment immediately skyrockets. Without a shadow of a doubt this is the best mainstream game of 2011 – a phenomenal achievement.

This should keep me busy til MW3 comes out.

the game is pretty good but id give it a 9 due to the aiming being stiff. Also i keep getting that been there done that feeling while playing. I love the character interaction and the graphics are some of the best if not the best on consoles. I got this and Batman : AC in the same day and so far i like batman alot more.

Ironic you say that as Batman AC is mostly built upon a 'been there done that' foundation.

Having finished both, once you fly over Arkham City once it's 'been there done that' the rest of the game. That's your entire map, and you'll backtrack it and the subways beneath it two dozen more times.

Enemies always respawn in the same areas in the same numbers, the combat is exactly the same as Batman AA right down the the god-mode double jump exploit. Riddler puzzles and challenge rooms are doubled but they're redundant, not much fun imo.

As such, I won't be playing new game+, but I will be playing U3 again on Crushing and hopefully platinuming it. Just finished it tonight, a much more memorable experience imo. Never seen a desert and ocean storm depicted so well. Give it time. the 2nd half is better than the 1st.

Yeah maybe i need to give it more time cause so far its not holding my attention like U2 did. As far ac batman :AC goes it feels fresh to me when compared to AA. Imo batman is a better game for me.

one website on meta critic scored it 5/10 O_O cause the gameplays dated and drake cant crouch... if mw3 scores more its a bogus review, pulled the meta down by 3 points

ontopic good review great game

@ above then you must get that feeling in all games, as just about everything has been done in some way before

P_Bomb2363d ago

Having just finished it, I can now say without a shadow of a doubt, not that I had any before, that the 5/10 on meta is pure trolling and should be scrubbed.

Why? Integrity. Didn't have the issues he said it did, pointblank. eg. He said you know less about Drake at the end than you did at the beginning. Considering you learn the fate of Drake's parents, where he grew up, how he met Sully and what he's been up to for two years relationship wise, I'm convinced Scott either played the game on mute or is just deliberately trolling.
